Flex vs PC?

Which is better? I am currently using a simple rotary bought from Costco in the early 1990's which only has two settings: on or off. Consequently, I am considering investing in one of these. It seemed like forever the PC was the Holy Grail of detailing, but now the Flex seems to be popular. Any opinions?

between to two the flex has more power and should remove defects quicker

but if you are comfortable with the rotary why not invest in a good one?

I would like the get the PC or the Flex becuase it seems like they are much more difficult to burn paint with. Although I was able to use the rotary without damaging the paint, I felt I was not getting the most out of it because I was focused on trying to avoid any damage.

My pc just shorted out onme the other day when I was doing a boat. It's a little over a year old!

The PC was good to me, and I got my money back out of it X 1000....but I just wish it would have lasted a little longer.

I called PowerHouse the other day to find out about the Flex L 3403 and they don't have them in stock, so they're shipping them directly from Flex.

They have 2 Deals:

1. Just the Flex Polisher for $199 + $10 for ground, $20 for 2nd day, and $30 for overnight

or

2. Flex Polisher, 2 pads, Velcro backing plate, and a MF cloth for $259 + $10, $20, $30....

Not a bad deal....

But he did tell me, that if you wanted to place your order and want it to go in the same day, it's better to call the order in before 12pm their time.

Anyhow, I'm getting one this week.....I figured I would give it a shot and see what it can do, compaired to a Milwaukee(sp?), DeWalt, or Makita....and of course a PC.

Just FYI to those.....

You can't go wrong with either one, but it might depends on what you are using it for.

For example:

Personal well maintained vehicles - polished with med.-light polishes once/twice a year -

I'd say a PC with both 6" & 4" backing plates and pads. The 6" pads for normal swirl/scratch removal and 4" for deeper or heavier swirls/scratches.

Weekend detailing/heavier marred vehicles -

I'd go with the Flex...it will save you time by speeding up your "cutting" time when polishing.

Both machines work really well and if used properly will yield great results.

Good luck!
