I did a '98 black Mercedes. Talk about hard clearcoat.
Used Flex 3401 with Megs D300 on 5" surbuf. Then used Megs 205 finishing polish. Got 85% correction.
I also have Megs 105 but didn't want to use it. I don't want to buy more polishes but I don't mind buying more pads.
Would wool pad help? :help:

Welcome to the world of Mercedes paint !

I have never used D300 but know a lot about Meguiars 105, 205, and 101.

The only way I know of to really get the best clarity on CeramicClear Paint is a Rotary, lots of pressure, and a bunch of pads..

You could use Lake Country's older Purple Foam Wool pads in the smaller 5" or so size, or their newer version of the pad but I have not used the newer ones..

The older ones work fantastic but shred a little wool.. They will absolutely clean off defects really quickly, as long as you know how to manage the compound and the pad..

For your machine (which I also have), I would use lots of pressure, keep the pad rotation high, and the speed all the way up, until I found the best process for this particular paint..

You would need to keep the Meguiars 105 damp enough so it gets through its initial-want-to-dry-and-ruin-your-day-mode, and then it will settle down and polish up really nice and glossy..

It can be used all the way through to the end and I believe Todd has made a few posts and pics of him doing exactly that... I have done this as well and love this stuff for its versatility in doing so many different surfaces really well..

I have never had any good experiences with Surbuf but did try them out when they hit the BigScreen 10 years ago..

Just remember - you can use anything, adapt it to your job, and find the sweet spot and figure out its limit for that paint at that time..
Just be patient, dont rush - ever - you need time and full attention to get this right..

Sorry this was a pain.. Get some purple foam wool if you want to speed it up, or perhaps a Menzerna Compound with a more aggressive foam pad..

Thanks Dan...I will try the LC Purple foam wool pad!

You are welcome ! I am happy to help !

You will need to have a few of them if you are going to do the entire vehicle..
They will mat down and not be as effective after awhile..
If you have a way to blow them out or at least clean them with a cotton towel or something, they can last longer..

At the end of the day, you can wash them all up, spin them or blow them out, set them on end so they can dry, and you will be able to use them until enough of the fibers are gone and they stay too flat..

If they leave any compounding marring in the paint, you will need to use the Meguiars 205 and a softer foam pad, like the White one, or something like that and you can really bring out the clarity to an incredible level..

Good luck !

You could also try the the CarPro flash pad. Honestly, I have no experience with it just heard great things about how much cut it has.

I use the Menzerna 400/2500/4000 Witherspoon yellow/orange and white Lake County pads. For the ultimate finish Dodo supernatural micro with black constant pressure pad and Vanilla Ice or the new hybrid wax from bouncers.

That sounds like a great way to finish. Pretty much jeweling the paint with Dodo Juice Micro Prime. Then topped with Vanilla Ice? I bet it was shiny!

You're right. Deep gloss and no swirls anymore.

The new wax called Check the Fleck.
