flat pads vs. cupped pads

I just got a PC and was wondering what kind of pads I should get. I've heard that the cupped shaped pads cut down on a lot of the splatter but I'm not sure if they're as effective as flat pads for buffing out swirls. What do you old pros think?

I've looked into it and there is no firm agreement. I'd say try both and see what your personal preference is.

It's definitely a personal choice. I have both types, though I tend to favor the concave designs for general buffing due to the anti-splatter feature. Flat pads have greater surface contact, so it can be argued that they are more efficient. There is also the blunt vs curved vs beveled edge debate to consider.

Buy a few different types to see what you prefer.

I have tried both and can not really tell the differnce. The concave pad does have the advantage of limiting splatter. Nevertheless, if you spread the product before turning on the PC with the flat surface, it will not splatter. Good luck.

Sorry guys but flat pad has the goods. Better contact and more consistant working. Andriver is dead right, spreading the product firstly will avoid a lot of the mess. Save your money, learn the product not the pad.
