FK 221-D Wheel Cleaner Review

Been using Eagle One All Wheel & Tire Cleaner (which I wish I could buy by the dilutable gallon) and needed a cheaper substitute and I think I've found it. FK 221-D mixed at 1:4 with (distilled) water in an old Eagle One spray bottle works really well. The aeration design of the EO bottle's nozzle makes some nice sticky suds that clings to the wheels and the tires. Brake dust bits and particles have no chance as they get washed away from the spray pressure alone. On tires, I think EO AWT still does a better job at displacing the brown muck however...

In any case, FK 221-D works as advertised.

Thanks for the review, I've been eyeing this product, just getting rid of some old orange bottle of A2Z. Also, thanks for the idea of using the old A2Z bottle afterwards, did not really think about that.

Yeah, great idea on the bottle re-use! Are your wheels sealed? Just curious how FK affects the durability of a sealant, even when diluted.

I still love my Griot's WC diluted at 50/50, leaves my KSG'ed wheels in great shape.

euro, does the wheel cleaner need to be diluted or is it intended to be used as full strength?

thx.

OK, I found the website for FK and it suggests diluting at 1:4 for strong cleaning and up to 1:10 for normal use.

This looks very interesting on a cost basis. The product is around $25 for a gallon.

Are there any other "must have" FK products I should consider while at their website. I don't really need any waxes/sealants/polishes. Did they offer a tire dressing (??) that people really liked? I can't recall.

Thanks.

I just ordered a bottle to use on my motorcycle. The metal brightening ability for all the non-CCed aluminum was my primary reason as even some of the ph-balanced rim cleaners seemed to cause some oxidizing

FK108

FK2180

Thanks ot Thomas I'm hooked

Also, People like FK1000P and Pink Wax

FK 425

I am going to end up ordering a lot from them when I need to get more stuff. :wall

It's so hard to not order more stuff.

I grabbed a can of the 1000P paste sealant..I'm thinking that would be great as a wheel sealant and even the aluminum casings and maybe chrome pipes on my bike

I'd pick up the sampler car care kit. It comes with alot of their goodies, and per ounce it's a deal.

I really like the pink wax and the 2180, although i never seem to use the same sealant twice..too many great products out there LOL.

The 4 oz of 2180 will go a long way since the durabiltiy is very good

Some even like the 146 over the 425, it has a better cleaning ability and quite nearly the same gloss

1000P on wheels hmmm....never thought about that.

I nearly ordered the FK wheel cleaner, ended up going with the Poorboys version which is as good as advertised. I'm a real stickler about keeping the barrell of the wheel free of the black stuff and this always turns into a messy affair when I use a sponge or brush (muck under my finger nails!).

A few sprays on all four wheels and some high pressure rinses EVERYTHING right out. I don't have a hose at the moment but I make a it a point to rinse my canvas top every two weeks, I'll add cleaning the wheel wells and wheel barrell to the do do list now.

...for making me order all this stuff. :rofl

OK, I'm gonna get the wheel cleaner as I am a frequent user and this appears to be a great buy and isn't toxic like my other recent gallon purchase.

Should I get that sampler? I so don't need more waxes, washes, etc.

The sampler includes:

7 - 4 oz containers of

118SC Car Wash

121 Ultimate Cleaner

303 Glaze

2180 Ultra Seal

108 Top Kote

425 Ultra Slick Poly Wipe Spray Detailer

2685 Pink Wax

I'm trying to figure how I could use (any of) these items in the sampler to get my DD ready for winter, since that is a near-term concnern.

I was looking at the #215 one-stepper thinking that might provide more utility...

Did someone say you could call them and they'll modify your sampler kit? I am reading about the #215 and am finding a lot of positive comments...

Yeah, but I need a good, solid cleaning phase prior to applying something like the 2180.

Are you suggesting #215 followed by #2180?

Thanks.

You can always give them a call. They may modify the kit. I think you can request samples as well. I've also seen people buying $5 samples...so I'm not sure what the policy is.

The kit comes with a glaze that's has some light abrasives in it..(isn't that a polish??? lol).

215 does get some good reviews though..so there are defintiely worse things to spend moolah on.

I bet that 2180 would work well over 215

I also bought the sample kit beginning of the year. I've tried the 108, 425, 118 so far and all are very nice products. Eyeing 146, 221-D, 228. Yes, 2180 can go over 215. I also have some 216 which is very nice, easy on/easy off, leaves the paint clean, shiny, and slick. The product kinda blends into the paint.
