What products/methods accomplish this best? From dried polish to dried wax I need a comprehensive method to remove the staining that is induced upon un-masked areas!

Thanks!

Rob (who will be masking from now on!)

Depending on the type of trim, I had the same problem you did on some my of textured plastic trim and it looked horrible well atleast to me:p ! I've tried a multitude of products for these problems mainly cleaner/dressing products. Most cover them up but they will come back. I have good luck with Back to Black from Mothers on some trim or Black Again. If you want something to clean it and make it look new again try Plexus on textured plastic trim and work it in with a toothbrush and some old mf's then buff dry. My side mirrors and chin spoiler look awesome now like brand new and I didn't evne dress them yet cause I wanted to see how Plexus stood up after washing and sitting in the sun. Its been over 2 weeks and multiple washings and still going strong:xyxthumbs. Plus Plexus works great for tinted windows, instrument gauges, and headlight and taillamp. So if I didn't come on strong enough :D it plain rocks get some you won't be dissapointed. I can't comment on its use with smooth plastic trim but I believe the bottle says it works on either

I tend to apply a layer of Autoglym Bumper Shine before polishing, this give the Autoglym sufficient time to bond properly and offers protection whilst polishing.

Trust me, use GR-40 wax remover, and follow it with a good protectant or dye. Top of the Line sells the GR-40 and the trim dyes.

One of the better ways is to take a detail brush with fairly stiff bristles and poke at the stain straight on, brushing doesn't do much. Do this until you get most off and wipe and then take your favorite dressing and do the same thing with the liquid and then treat the whole trim.

This stuff blew me away when I tried it on two year old dried wax and grime on exterior plastic.

1Z Einszett Plastic-Vinyl Cleaner ''Plastik-Reiniger''

Just spray, gently scrub with toothbrush, and wipe clean with damp sponge...OEM finish!

Yes, it is very effective! I use it for that purpose, too.

From my experience, this "preemptive" method is also a good idea. Although I don't use Autoglym (though I plan to do so soon, Lowejackson, since my local Autobacs now carries the whole line!), dressing any plastic trim ahead of time does help in preventing it.

That sounds like a great idea, simple yet effective! I usually use a (locally made) white plastic eraser when necessary. I think I'll try that next time (except for the dressing, which I usually apply ahead of time). Thanks for the tip!:)
