Fixing a roof

Problem: Two 1" holes drilled in metal roof of sedan. Currently plugged - actually one is plugged with goop of some sort, and the other covered with metal tape. Is this a big job for a body shop to fill in (bondo?) or repair?

Thanks!

Shouldn't be a tough job at all. I think the toughest part of that job is finding someone who can properly match the paint/exsisting orange peel.

I'm not too concerned with an exact match, any level fix would be better than the tape/plug solution that's on there now.

Between this thread and the one about the stickers it sounds like you bought an X cop car. The best way to repair holes like this is to weld new metal in the holes. Bondo is kind of a temporary solution. If you just want to make it look good so you can sell it, you can plug the holes with kitty hair fiberglass or fiberglass mat. It shouldn't take more than an hour with a MIG welder to completely weld in some patches though. It is a basic repair that shouldn't cost too much.

You got it! Picked up a 98 Ford Police Interceptor at an auction today. It's a sweet ride, but has some ...ugh.. detailing issues. I'll be taking some before and after pics and will post.

Most folks with these rides just plug the light bar holes with antenna plugs from radio shack. I'll probably give that a look and see what local shops quote for a proper repair. Either way would be better than the glob of goo in hole and the metal duct tape covering the other.

The sticker issue isnt bad. Only folks like us would notice the paint color differences. It was cloudy and rainy at the auction, and didnt even notice it until later today when it was sunny and I was at the correct angle. But still, I think I'll try to get rid of them somehow.
