Fixing a Leather Accident :)

My parents were on their way home from Philly the other day and they both had jackets on. My mom had on a new(er...?) black leather coat, and the heated seats were on full power in her car. When she got out of the car, she noticed some of the dye form the jacket transferred onto the light greyish leather seat (thank God it didn't get on the suede!). I tried some woolite, but no luck. I don't have anything else safe enough for leather. She actually asked me to post a thread about it, to see what kind of responses I get. If need be, I can get some pictures.

So, the question is: How can I get this off? Anything we can do short of redying that section of the seat?

'Preciate it.

Dye Transfer:

The transfer of dyes from clothing can usually be removed by using:

1.A 5:1 solution (or stronger) of Distiller water /Woolite® or Dreft®

2.If this does not remove the dye use a general purpose cleaner (303TM Cleaner & Spot Remover)

3. Or a 5:1 (or stronger) solution of Distilled water / Isopropyl Alcohol.

Allow cleaner / cleaning solution to sit on the surface for a few minutes (do not soak the leather)

removing residue with a clean, damp micro fibre cloth. You may need to apply the above cleaners 2-3 times, if all else fails it may be necessary to dye the stain with a suitable leather dye (Leatherique) With all cleaning products, always test a small, indiscrete area first to ensure it won't discolour or lighten the surface

~Hope this helps~

Thanks. I might have to try the Iso/Water mixture. I tried my woolite today and I got nothing. Tried it a few times, and I still had no luck.
