Sorry to hear about the accidental drop of the parts on the paint.
Have you looked at it closely to make sure you dont have a small dent?
If so, maybe its would be best to have it removed first, and then touch up the paint.
Cons - it would add to the cost of the repair.
I have touched up dings in the Body Shop back when you went to the auto paint store and got a good camel hair sword brush, mixed up some of the correct paint with the appropriate thinner/reducer and slowly filled up the ding until it was level.
Today in my experience, the process that most closely resembles that is the Drcolorchipdotcom product.
You might check out their website and see if this looks like something you might want to try.
When I used it after my wife tried to back out of the garage with the door still down ( and yes, she had a back up camera, a good one, but you actually have to be looking at it too!!

) this process took an ugly paint gouge out of the top edge of the rear spoiler and made it go away unless you looked really closely at it.
Good luck with this, have fun with the new strut brace too ! Tell your sweetie you also need fender covers for both fenders to match the strut bar !
