First wash in 4 months

Surprisingly enough the Collinite I put in back in december was performing like a champ. It just works.

I've been way to busy with school and working in a genius' lab to care about having a shiny car. Weekends are spent...not washing my car. hehehe.

anyway.

I don't know. There are some scratches. My car stays pretty swirl free. Dirt doesn't seem to cause swirls. Poor wash technique creates swirls.

No washing for 4 months and your car looks like that after just a wash? Niiiice. :)

The first pics shows how effective that color is at hiding dirt.

Very nice looking for just a wash and wax job! I have a silver car, and that too hides dirt nicely. looks freshly waxed from 5 feet away even if it hasnt been washed in a month. only way to tell if its dirty from a distance is looking at the wheels. another reason why i love silver.

thats why i switched over to ONR.

I use a chenille wash mitt too. Not microfiber or sheepskin. Sheepskin may be fine, but I'm really a big old hippie at heart and I would rather not put my hand in dead animal skin/fur. It's really disgusting when it gets wet, too. I had to use one last summer and I thought, "Sorry, lamb chop, but kids these days are too busy thinking that the internet is make believe to care about your boring ***. Washing cars is still a noble cause..."

Ironically enough the owner of the soft furry thing bought it at Walmart. I couldn't help but wonder if this was an actual Chinese sheep that I was judiciously rubbing against the paint! It's suffice to say I got a little excited about the prospects of playing with an animal's fur that may very well have once roamed fields halfway around the world. The other day I found a bag at China Dollar that said, "AMERICA" across it and it was made in China. Then I bought some tissue paper that was made in the US of A. It's things like this that make me proud to be an American...

I come to find out one can buy black sheep skin mitts? Oh dear.

heather mist! The wheels are a dead give away. They're not nearly as dirty as they could be. I put Collinite on those back in December, too.

I think the car staying relatively clean has to do with good prep work for the wax to adhere to? And after the wax has pretty much worn off there isn't much for the dirt to stick to? It's just a theory.

oh, also spy by fairly bald tires that are somewhat performance oriented radials to begin with. ouch. driving in snow has never taken so much skill in this car...

I don't know. I didn't even notice GC when I went to buy it. I just thought of the smell of jujubes and mint and went straight for the NXT wash.

Then I opened it up and smelled it all the way home. My car smells like jujubes and mint now.

It doesn't look dirty at all in the first picture. Did you drive it at all for those 4 months, or did it just sit in the driveway? ;)

Why not, no need to give the black sheep any special treatment.

I eat meat and wear leather, so I can't complain about using sheepskin. However being a natural material they do vary a lot. The Eurow brand that Wal-Mart sells seem to last a little longer than the Turtle Wax mitts that Meijer sells.

I have since switched to washing with ONR, grout sponges, and back to one bucket. It's quicker, and the sponge floats, keeping it out of the grime and dirt.

Corey I did the same thing yesterday with the super nice temps and posted pics. The difference was that I used Megs #21 rather than Collinite (I am not knocking Collinite).

I was quite surprised to have water still forming beads after 5 months of use.

I dressed my tires but didn't apply any wax/sealant yesterday. I was really quite amazed at the appearance after a good wash.

#21 is super durable. Its been on my truck since January. It still beads up good. In a few weeks im going to bust out a good detail and spend a good day removing swirls and sealing it with 2 coats of #21 this time.

Real sponges never hurt anyone. Save the sponges!
