I used to think I knew how to detail, untill I stumbled here, from the vwvortex detailing forum. All of you guys do Amazing work. Thanks for all of your insite and tips, my paint thanks you too. :up

Long story short. I had the mirrors painted on the car, the painter got some overspray on it. He then decided to wetsand and buff it out for me. Gee Thanks. I bought a PC and alot of other stuff about 2 weeks after joining this forums. Let me just say this again, Holy Crap VW Paint is Hard. :furious: PC OHC, and a megs burgandy pad barley touched the swirls. Went over the whole thing with a rotary for my first time the other day. I did my homework, and I think for my first time, everything came out great.

This is my Jazz Blue 20th Ann GTI.

Washed with OCW

Clayed with Opti Clay

OHC Megs Burgandy x2 1400rpms

OC Green Light Cut 1200rpms

OP Megs polishing PC speed 6

AIO by hand

Nxt Wax Liquid x2 by hand

p21s x2 by hand.

I didnt take the best pics, but the Whole car looked like the top right of this pic. Very Mared up and wetsand marks still visible.

The car looked great from about 6ft away, but when you got close it wasnt pretty. Just after the wash.

Drove over to Bradenton for VWFixxFest. Great show. Drove over with almost 100 VW's from South Florida. A couple rolling shots my friend took.

wow car looks amazing, great job

is that a stock color?

what kind of tape is that on the front bumper?

is the tape just a precaution for road debris?

Thanks.

Yes it is a stock color. VW only made 4k GTIs total like this for the US. Jazz blue, Imola Yellow and Black Magic Pearl were the color options and were not offered on any other VW.

The tape is just Blue painters tape. Anyone that has driven across the middle of Florida knows that the love bugs are a little abundant. :lol

about the tape, i frequent i-4 and i-95 living in central florida. it looks like a good idea, how easy does it come off? leave any residue? you may have made my road trips alot easier, i even go as far as driving slow on the interstate thinking hey the might have an extra spit second to get out of the way. lol i have a black rsx.....

The tape is 3m brand. I would try and find it online as I paid $10 for a single roll at Advanced Auto. It is very very nice to have though. I didnt go crazy with it, just incase it was tough to remove but its super easy. The nicest thing is its 14day removal garuntee. I had no adhesive transfer not even on the edges. I also just waxed the car, mabey throw a coat of OWC on right before you do it.

You guys can be honest you know, not everone has to like it.

Ok I'll be honest, what a piece of s*#^ and I hate the color to. :chuckle: That is one sweet ride you have. I'm not a blue fan but I do really like that shade and it also helps that you did a great job detailing it, way to go :2thumbs: .
