First time with the PC

Well I got my PC last week and went to work on my Eclipse. I don't have any before pictures, but the car was pretty clean in the first place. I wasn't really sure what I was doing with it. I used a yellow pad and Meg's #80. I probably should have used something a little more abrasive, because I still have some light swirl marks and scratches that I think would have come out. I've also got some "bug" spots on the front bumper that just will not come off no matter what. I'll get some up close pics of them so I can get some advice from you guys. Anyhow, here's a couple of pics I shot the other night.

fooked, did the bug spots come off during the claying procedure? That took off mine quite easily...I won't be using Bug & Tar for my front anymore.

Obviously the car is not exactly stock. The intercooler and the suspension kind of give it away in the pics.

No the clay didn't take off the bug spots. I thought it would but I was kind of disappointed that it didn't. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Yeah, it's not exactly stock. Big 16g turbo, Greddy ProfecB Spec II boost controller set at 22 psi, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Brode UICP, HKS BOV, HRC FMIC, Thermal 3" Exhaust, Downpipe, Test pipe, 660cc fuel injectors, Greddy Turbo timer, etc... the usual stuff :).

I'll get some more pics when the engine is clean. :)

Only way to deal with suicidal bugs & they're remains is to wipedown the bug-gutted surface soon as you get home. Don't let the remains dry & stay on the car for days 'cause it takes too much rubbing to get 'em off.

Even if you use warm water on a MF towel, hold it to bumper to soften what's there, and then dry with MF there's still stuff left that's tough to remove.

I've got a bucket of water & a wash mitt next to the work bench so it's right in front of the car when I park it. A quick wipe-down & dry it with MF leaves the bumper & headlights spotless & ready-to-go.
 
An orbital buffer has its limitations. If the swirls were deep enough, a rotary may be necessary. Based on your pictures, the results you obtained with the PC are excellent. I have a Cyclo, and it has its limitations also. One thing that I have realized over the years detailing, is that perfection is extremely hard to obtain. It may not be possible to achieve the results you are invisioning in your mind.
