First time with rotary.

Well I decided to finally give my truck the attention that it has been waiting for! I ended spending about 40 hours on the whole car from finish to end. I wanted to do the whole thing using the rotary, and not have to use my flex. I think it came out really good for my first time. I still have some slight halos in the paint. I think it’s from running the speed to high on the ultrafina. I wanted to play with it more, but I was getting really tired, and just wanted it done. I will say even though it took me a lot longer than an experienced guy would have taken, I learned a lot of valuable lessons with the rotary.

I have uploaded some pics of the before and after. This is the first time loading pictures from photobucket so we will see how it works.

Also just wanted to mention that this is single stage paint, with Pinnacle Souveran.

Just wanted to say the reason for adding these pictures to Autotopia wasn’t just to show off my pictures. I would have never been able to do this without all the knowledgeable people on this sight giving tips. So anyway I guess it’s thanks to all the people on this website for posting days and days of threads I had to browse thru to find my answers! lol!:)

Hey man...I'm in Portland, too and if you wouldn't mind I'd like to talk to you about the rotary, especially if it's a Makita.

The truck looks, great too! :2thumbs:

Hey just Pm me. I have a Dewalt, but I like the Makita better I think. My neighbor has the Makita and I think it’s quieter and smaller, but I have never used it. On my Dewalt I ended up taking of the support handle off and just put my hand over the head of the buffer.

You can’t see it in the pictures but I have a slight halo in the paint in different areas. I think it was from, not finishing off the ultrafina at the proper speed.

Thx, Shawn.
