First time Lexus IS200

I bought this 2,5 years old Lexus IS200 a few months ago. (By the way, in case you wonder where an IS200 gets sold, I'm from Germany.) The previous owner extensively used those agressive washing bays that cause scratches into the paint, so it took some time to make it shine again. The pictures are a few weeks old, but I just found this forum, so why not share some with you :)

I made an excursion to take these the next day, so forgive me those insects on the front bumper :D

Used: Carlack 68 ( http://www.carlack.de ) and Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. A ful set of Meguiars products is on it's way - I liked the easy of use of the new NXT generation products. Although I have to admit, that it doesn't last that long, but that's what the refresher (Spray Wax) is for - I hope ;) If only I could get that P21S Carnauba Wax :(

Unfortunately, kids from the neighborhood scratched the whole front with dirt last week :angry , thanks god their parents are fully insured, the front will get repainted in the next two weeks.

Beautiful Lexus! Thanks for sharing.

Hmmmm...Doesn't the Dr. Wack chemical firm in Germany sell P21S? I thought it was a local product for Germany...

Maybe the website at www.p21s.com can help.

The guy is smart! He uses the original Carlack 68 (Klasse)!!!

True, P21S Carnauba is not available in Germany. Wack sells only synthetics there. The recent product highlight is a 2-component wax in twin tubes (basically one-but-separated), which you can mix on the pad and it is supposed to be very durable.

Who knows? Didn't try it yet. Hey, Nico, if you know more about this product, tell us!

(Ne, Nico? - Hast du das gesehen/gehört? Stefan Raab hatte es an einer Softkey... Ne, Nico?)

Thank you very much for your comments!

The tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE 040 215/45 R17. I've heard from friends that own the same car that the Pirelli tires are even a bit better, so I will switch to Pirelli when my Potenza's get old.

Carlack 68 is indeed the best product I have seen so far. I didn't know there was a connection to Klasse? My package ful of Meguiars will arrive today, can't wait to get home :D

Lucky you - I've tried this stupid 2 in 1 product from Wack this spring, it's called "A1 2K Politur + Fixierwachs" in Germany ( http://www.wackchem.com/a1/prod_a1.htm#a12k ). In three words: Do not buy.

The only thing you can save with A1 2K P+F is time. But: It's very expensive. The whole tube only lasts for 2 uses, not 4 to 5 uses like promised in the commercials, therefor it is much to expensive. It's very hard to get it off the car. Indeed I didn't get it off without an additional handwash. I'm sure I did it right, in fact, I tried it two times. Be sure not to get in contact with any plastic or something else, you need to buy additional products from Wacks to get it off there again. The whole tube is stupid, you can't get the two components out in the same ratio, it's always too less or too much of either. The protection doesn't last very long, after a week the pearl effect on water was already gone. The shine is in no way comparable with other products like Carlack. I will never buy it again and in case it isn't clear yet: I hate it ;)

I have some picture for you from my old car. It was the last time I detailed it before I sold it, so I wanted to do extra good and bought A1 2K P+F - you know the result...

This is my old car after washing:

... and after apllying A1 2K:

The car shines nicely, but if you come closer you would note that it's not the perfect shine, swirls all over it. I was not satisfied with the result.

Bence is right about P21S, I just contacted the company and they told me that they don't sell the Carnauba wax in Germany. Funny thing, they produce it here but they don't sell it. Perhaps I should visit them at night :D

(@Bence: I don't watch the show any more ;) )

Great looking Lexus IS Nico. Since you're in Germany have you ever thought of modding your car with TTE parts? I'm thinking about getting a TTE rear lip spoiler for mine.

It's not that easy to get tuning parts for Lexus in Germany and the laws are very strict. So TTE is in fact one of the best opportunities to pimp your ride :D

I will get the TTE Rear Silencer next spring and I'm thinking about going deeper with the TTE Lowering springs (Hint: TTE Lowering springs are manufactured by Eibach. You can save around 100 Bucks if you get them directly from Eibach and not from TTE, it's the same product).

The rear spoiler is a nice addition to the sporty line of the IS. I don't like those big spoilers on that car and at least the IS200 ist not that fast that he needs the downforce. So I would (and perhaps will) go for the TTE Rear spoiler too. You can check the TTE homepage (english) at: http://www.tte.de
