Hi,
Today I finally got the chance to use my Porter Cable 7424. Heeheeheehahahha. What else can I say.

I thought it would be tough to use. Hard on the back and shoulders etc. Nah, it was a piece of cake. My back and shoulder hurt all the time because I am old (LOL) but the pc didnt contribute.

I was using the machine with 3m compound on speed 6, whhhhhzzzzzzzzzz, heee heeeh hheee. Take that you rotten swirls hhehee. It took several passes on this old beater, but man you see results. The only person who could get that stuff by hand would have to be Superman on meth.

Problem is that My first Lake Country pad the velcro seperated from the pad. So I started to use my back-up and it looks like the plate is cutting into it around the entire pad. I thought these pads would be more durable. And I had only done the roof and the hood. I can still use the 2nd pad, but it looks like someone took a cookie cutter to it. The pads were centered dead on, so I dont think that was the problem.

Has anyone else had problems with there pads like I had above? I thought they would be more durable. I only did the roof and hood and killed one pad and started to kill the 2nd. I dont want to spend $100. on pads just to do a beater, or any car for that matter. What gives with these Lake Country pads???

Also I notice that when the PC is working that the pads spins a little, not alot. But I thought that the dual action didnt move in a circular way at all. Is this normal for the pad to be spinning a little in a circlular direction? I didnt press on the machine and it spun and even when I put some pressure it still spun. Not alot, mabe 10 rpm or so. But should it spin at all???? I was using it on speed 6(whhzzzzzzzzzzheeheeehaaa)

I hope someone can help me.
Thanks,

maybe you need a 5 inch backing plate for use with the 6 inch pads.
or if you have a 6 inch backing plate you need to use the 7.5 inch pads.

I use a 6 inch backingplate and never had an issue with using either 6inch or 7.5 inch pads.
Yes it will spin. The PC doesnt do a whole lot of anything with pressure applied to it.
