First Thread Introducing Myself

Hello all,

I have been following this forum for quite some time now and haven't posted until now. This forum has been the greatest help in me introducing my business Platinum Auto Detail. I am in the earliest stages of starting my business now. I have been detailing (unprofessionally) for 10 years. I decided that my current job doesn't pay enough and why give up something i love if i have time to do that and create the potential to quit something i despise! Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and if any of you have any helpful hints to me getting up and started, please feel free to post, any info is better than no info!

First question: What is the procedure for wheel acid wash? Alloy, chrome, aluminum, metal, etc...

2nd question: What products can you use for this?

Thanks,

John

Welcome to Autopia. :welcome

It's always a good idea to post welcome threads in the 'Welcome' forum as they will be ignored generally if they're miscategorized.

About the acid wheel wash, well...Generally it's a good idea to use a pH balanced gel wheel cleaner whenever possible to avoid possible liability from damage. Most of the time you will only need soap and water, You can use the leftover soap solution from washing the vehicle.

About the acid wheel stuff...Well, if you insist on using it. Try out Meguiars Wheel Brightener or something like that. Spray it on the rims and allow it to soak for a short time, perhaps 30 seconds and rinse it all away.

I posted that "No Responce" not realizing that my first thread was being held for a while. Sorry.

As for the acid wash, i think i will stick with p21s, appears to do the job just fine. I have also used the meguiars and it works wonderfully. I asked only for the reason that sometimes it gets used in extreme conditions, but i myself never used it, or really had too. Was just wondering if anyone else did.
