First swirl removing products?

Hey everyone.

I just bought a PC, and I have the Excel Plate/Pad kit on order...What products should a beginning PC user buy for light/medium swirl removal?

Possible choices include PB's SSR (1 and 2? 2.5?) and Meg's DACP. Have any other reccomendations?

How does Wash>Clay>Wash>???>AIO>SG sound?

Also, would you reccomend to begin applying the AIO with the PC? Which pad?

Hi-Temp Light Cut leveler. Great product, and really cheap too. No need to follow up with a finer polish. If the light cut does not get all the swirls out, you can always step up to the medium cut.

Most folks here who use PB's use SSR 2.5 and 1 and don't bother with 2.0. Some have even been able to go directly from 2.5 to their LSP while others step down and polish any micromarring from 2.5 with 1.

On the Megs side, #83 is used for the more difficult swirls, etc. while #80 can be used for light/medium defects (depending on the pad used). If you're going to go the Megs route, I'd certainly suggest you buy #80 ... it's pretty versatile.

I can explain why he might want to try the Hi-Temp line. Easy to use, great results, economical, and uses chemical abrasives that leave no swirls.

Yes the Light Cut is a great product, I use it from time to time and the results are always tops.

My other choice would be Optimum Polish or IP

80 is the speed glaze right?

Sorry ... yes, #80 is the Speed Glaze.

Denzil talked about going with PB's SSRs ... they are sun friendly while the Megs (especially #83) are not. Here's a thread on that subject.

Poorboy's SSR 2.5/1 and Menzerna IP/FP.

Both work great via PC but when I first started, I was able to use the Menzerna twins by hand with some success.

1Z Paint Polish is excellent and is my "go to" polish for light-medium swirls and blemishes. It's VERY easy to use and will make your paint look like it has a fresh layer of lacquer on it!

Is Menzerna IP any less aggressive than PB's 2.5? I've seen charts that have claimed this.

Of the mid-aggressive polishes I am using right now I have SSR2.5, IP, Optimum, and #83 all about the same in terms of cutting ability.
