First rotary test

So I bought a Makita 9227 today, and could only get an 8" Megs polishing pad, AND I had no test panels, so what better to test it on than my old van :heelclick :D Took a broom to the hood and went to work :chuckle: Used Optimum Polish on that area, starting it at 600rpm, then moving up to 1000rpm, then finishing off the polishing at 1200rpm or so.

And two random shots of our RX7s, and my new shop vac! :D

A lot easier to use than I expected. Lots of torque compared to the PC, but I expected that. I like the fact that you get so much cut with lighter pads and lighter polishes compared to heavier of everything on the PC, and the results are better and faster. Can't wait to do a full car with it.

Why the 800, 1000, 1200 rpm jump? Everyone is diff. but I prefer to spread with 600 or lowest rpm... then crank to the set speed.. No need to start stepping the spped little by little as most polishes do their job with 2-3 passes... therefor no time to be jumping up speeds.

so can you really only use a rotary on the horizontal surfaces? the holograms come from moving the pad around so curved areas and doors and stuff must be difficult to master am I correct?

Nice work! I may end up getting a rotary too, running into too many cars with rock hard paint. The Cyclo is a definite improvement over the PC but I know it can't cut hard paint like a rotary.

Wow looks great man, everyone seems to be upgrading to a rotary and you've definitely shown us why.

How do you like your new shop vac vs. the LGCM?

Nice work! I have that shop vac too and I think I may remove the casters like yours. The dumbest design ever!!! It is set up with 3 wheels so unless the tank is full, it constantly falls over!

We couldnt get one of the wheels to stay on, thats why it has no wheels :o But I guess it works better being on a level surface.
