First Paid Detail... Need some help!

A guy with a midnight blue Porsche 944 has asked me to do a full (interior/exterior/engine) detail of his car.

I've never dipped into the pro side of detailing, and don't know where to start.

First off is price. I don't want to super over charge for this, but I don't wanna waste my time either.

I could also use some help with the process. On my car, I go all out. Do I do this with his too? I'm thinkin:

wash

clay (?!?!?!?)

FI-II

AIO (or SEC)

Gliptone w/Teflon or NXT or....

303 for the tires, outside and inside trim

and simple green then engine coat for the engine

Everything would be PC applied...

Thoughts?

Thanks for the help!!

Depending on the condition of his paint and what he wants to pay will determine what you do to his car. If the paint is in great condition, you may not need to polish, thus save you some time.

I think your above process is worth at least $150. This guy has a car that at one time was worth about a $100k. He shouldn't be skimping on a detail. If the guy gripes at that, tell him to take it down to the car wash to save $20 or so and have some kid put swirls into his paint b/c he doesn't know what he's doing.

Take a look at his vehicle's condition and give yourself an estimate of how long it will take. What do you feel covers the products necessary to be used? What do you want to make an hour? There you go : D

What everyone is saying about the condition of the paint. More than likely the 944 is a single stage paint from the 80s to early 90s. Watch out for oxidation unless it has been well kept.

Well like me, I did one of my first cars yesterday, so I thought I wouldn't charge what would be a huge price tag. I think I under charged since it took me 6 and 1/2 hours to do, and only charged 120 bucks Canadian.

I did a better job that I do on my own parents cars. Just to give you a idea of what I did, and what would be a good place to start.

Thanks for all the advice guys!! The guy who recommended me is a good friend and co-worker, and threw out $200, and the guy seemed to bite, so i'm gonna roll with that. I think $150 would be the lowest I'd go...

If I do this, the car will be flawless when done. I pretty much have exterior stuff down, just have to decide on the products, and how I wanna work the paint...

I do have some interior questions that I need help with too, so if you guys wouldn't mind having a look at my post in the university section too..

Oh, and keep the advice coming! It's much appreciated!!!!! :D

I agree with the $150 charge, but the Porsche 944 did not cost about $100k. I believe it was closer to $40k in the mid-80's. This is not the 911 or 959.
