This was the first time the engine has ever been detailed on this car as well as the first engine detail that I've ever done myself. As you can see from the Before pictures...it was in great need of one. Let me know what you think. :)

Under the hood after: (Unfortunately, I forgot to take a before)

After the engine...I decided to wash and throw a quick coat of wax on...I'm disappointed in this pic...the car was so blindingly bright but the camera didn't do it any justice. I should've taken a reflection pic...

u sure you didn't take a photo of the engine of a new car? The difference is like night and day..very nice. What products did you use? and what process?

Thanks guys! It didn't take as long as I thought it would, but dang...it made a mess of a bunch of towels and rags! Totally worth it though after seeing the finished product. :)

Process/Products:

Engine -

I covered the important looking stuff with aluminum foil...then I sprayed with full concentration Oil Eater (I picked up a gallon jug at Costco last weekend), ...let it sit for about 5 minutes and hosed off. I then repeated the process, but this time I used a scrub brush to agitate. After hosing off, I wiped everything dry then went to town with some cheapo tire shine for the hoses. Took roughly an hour to complete.

Car -

The car itself is loaded w/ swirls that you can't see unless you're really close (gotta love white!) which I'll attack at a later time. I washed, spot clayed and topped with wax. I have a small sample bottle of Mother's carnuba cleaner wax (came with the clay kit) that I'm trying to get rid of so that's what I used on the paint. The wheels got special treatment with some AIO & SG. I've found that to work really well w/brake dust on the Highlander so I decided to use it on the ZX2...

Thanks for the complements!

Engine detailing is not really my fave thing, but what you did impresses me...Looks like it's brand new off the factory floor!!
