First Detail: SLK55

After lurking on this great forum for a long time, I figured I'd make a small contribution since I finally got around to detailing one of my car's this weekend. I did the zaino thing (Dawn wash, clay, wash, a couple of layers of z2, z6, z5, and finish with z8). I've still got a lot to learn but doing my best.

I've got to get to the wheels/tires this weekend.

Take care everybody.

Hey Chuck,

Yeah, it's a SLK55 AMG. Plenty fast for me. 5.5 liter V8 putting out 355hp and just over 360 lb-ft of torque.

Car magazines tested her and were getting 0-60 numbers in the 4.3 to 4.5 range.

Just wish the weather would get a little better so I can take her out a little more with the top down.

Take care,

The car and the paint look topnotch. :up

Can you upload some larger pictures into your free autopia gallery and either link them or put them in this thread using

i was able to drive a black/black slk55 just like yours. feels like you're in the batmobile.

Scottwax,

Thanks for the kinds words. I've put a couple of pictures up in the members gallery but here are the two a little larger (I hope this works).

Ok, not the best pictures I'd have to say.

I'll play around a little more tomorrow and see if I can do better.

Here's a few shots of the interior. Now that I've started work detailing the outside, I guess the next logical step is to start researching what to do to keep the inside looking sharp.

There is one thing missing on the interior that would keep it looking sharp.

Thanks for sharing.

Hahahah, thanks. Yeah, the weather is actually looking decent today. To bad I'm locked to the desk for a few more hours. Maybe this afternoon.

At least if I can't get outside, I can do some more research on this forum to try to get to the detailing level some of you guys (and gals) are at :xyxthumbs

Thanks.

Hope these turn out better (larger):

You can't tell the difference to much in the pictures, but the difference is a little more noticable in person (also, the lighting is different). However, I do have to hand it to my local MB dealer that they did do a nice job when I picked the car up. I think they used Klasse products.

do you have another car or is it a daily driver?

I have another car that's my daily driver. It's actually a company SUV but my company allows me to use it for personal use as well. They also cover the insurance and all the gas on it so it makes it easy to skip out on driving the SLK. Finally, the weather has been so horrible in the Northwest over the winter that it made it tough to want to drive the SLK. However, Springs just around the corner so I'm sure I'll put more miles on her shortly.

Awesome! I love those cars, they sound fantastic straight outta the box, and they'll give my Z06 a run for its money and look better doin' it. Nice choice.

Thanks. Nice looking Z06 you've got there yourself!

I have a friend who's looking into a 2006 Z06. Amazing performance for the $$$ (would blow my SLK outta the water). Dealer's around here could be a little more accomdating but I guess they know they've got a hot car on their hands.
