First Detail as a Pro - White Yukon XL

Well, I got my first job this morning as a pro detailer. It started out horrible. My invertor setup ended up not working, the place I detailed the car at ended up having ZERO power outlets what so ever.... And I left my battery powered vacuum at home charging! So I did all of the "vacuuming" with an interior brush, my finger tips and a walmart bag, the extracting with Blue Coral's "dry clean" interior cleaner, and the polishing..... By hand. Thankfully there were hardly any swirls to speak of, lucked out on that one.

Leather was horrid. Used a 1:6 woolite mix in a spray bottle and a toothbrush + interior scrub brush.

Exterior was polished by hand (after QEW wash) with a yellow Sonus PC pad and SFX-2, mainly to remove paint contamination. (Oh yeah, I left the CLAY at home too!!! :hairpull Oh well, you learn by mistake.) Tires cleaned / dressed with black magic foaming tire cleaner / dressing, wells dressed with their spray dressing. Paint was topped with poorboy's EX with carnuba.

Detailed the engine, but forgot to take pics. Scrubbed it with simple green, dressed with Meguire's vinyl & rubber protectant.

Even with no power, it only took me 6 hours. I'm just so glad the paint wasn't swirled. Oh yeah, and I'm buying a generator soon...

The focus hard at work:

EX makes white shine pretty good:

The leather was trashed. This is the best I could get it looking after scrubbing for ages with woolite. The owner was pleased though, it looks brand new compared to how it was before.

(Carpet doesn't look too bad for no electricity!)

I'm pleased with how it went. What do you guys think?

Looks good! You should try some scratch X for swirl removal without power, works pretty good. Be glad that you left the clay at home, white sucks because it takes forever to get all the contamination out and once you start you cant stop untill everything it out. lol I remember my first detail, not too long ago, I too forgott all kinds of stuff, so I ended up buying plastic boxes to put everything in, so I will have everything, whether I need it or not. Better safe than sorry.

Good time too, only 6 hrs all by hand! Took me 8hrs for exterior only on a white yukon, non XL. lol But I had to clay and polish like crazy! lol

Pretty good job. Now for the hard part . . . getting organized. I think Pontman43 makes a great suggestion. You should get some plastic organizers and bring all your supplies with you every time. Getting a generator should be helpful though. When you have that you won't need to use rechargeable machines and power inverters.

Outstanding job for no power. I don't know if I would have attempted a Yukon XL without the AC. The interior looks fantastic, it must have really been bad. Oh no, the exhaust tip!
