First Click and Brag: Interior Detail...

I am copying this from another forum I originally posted it on. So please excuse the moronic newbie-esc talk. They aren't clean freaks, so I gotta try and hype it up. :nana:

Over the course of this coming weekend, I plan on detailing the interior of my ZX2. I try and keep my ZX2 clean, but have slacked off ALOT over the past few months, and it is starting to show. So, I thought I would take pictures and show everyone the befores and afters of my detailing expedition! (good or bad)

Here is what we are starting with, a 2000 ATX ZX2, with a tan interior with leather seats. I know *ICK* tan, But it's not the worst of colors to have, just difficult to keep clean.

First up, Leather seats! Always a pain to keep clean, especially with lighter colors (i.e. - Tan, Beige). Process included, a woolite cleaning solution one (1) cap full of detergent in about one (1) gallon size bucket. Filled/mixed with warm water. One (1) Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... That's right, we are going to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean the seats (and various other parts).

Before:

Looks half way decent. Seen ALOT worse, but I have seen, and am soon to get, ALOT better!

Stay tuned, more to come this weekend!!! * :waxing:

I use the ME on everything except paint surfaces.

Im having trouble finding the/a generic brand. I used to buy an off brand at HD ($5 for 10) and now i cant find them anywhere.

Avoid using it on rubber trims. It will most likely remove any glossy finish and leave it matte.

Mine are LONG gone, so I am not too concerned about removing the 'gloss' from them. ANYTHING to help the situation right now... You might suggest clay baring them. Well on the 'before' side of the trim, that WAS after a good clay baring! Poor 6 year old window moldings.

All types of leather is fine tho?

I have never had any problems with my Escorts leather seats. Just use a good leather conditioner after you are done and they look brand new!

Wow, I paid $5 for 4 of the Mr. Clean ones  O well, they worked really good!

***UPDATE***

So this morning it is B-E-A-UTIFUL outside. So before I swing by the beach on my way to FORD to get some misc bolts and parts for my EGT swap. I thought I would head outside and finish up scrubbing the interior panels. Here are the results:

Door Panels:

Before and After. Pretty dificult to see a difference cause the lighting BLOWS! But if you draw a vertical line between the 'X' and the '2' on the door insert, you have after on the left, and before on the right.

Rear quarter panel: Before on left and after on right...

Drivers Seat: Before on left, after on right. The before is 'shineyer' cause of all the oils and dirt imbedded in the seat!

And here is some eye candy for everyone!

ENJOY!!! Off to FORD right now. Be back later to answer question...

Since discovering this thread, I've become a big fan of Magic Eraser! At our local King Soopers (Kroger's) the Mr. Clean version is $3.29/2 pack and their Everyday Living brand Erase It (which appears to be a generic identical) is 2.19/2 pack. That's better; but nowhere near as good as HD price.

Used them in a similar way as above on a GM leather/vinyl interior and a Jag leather/vinyl, both came out looking great with very little effort.
