First C&B - '06 HHR

This HHR belongs to a non-autopian family member. They live on a dirt road, and it was pretty dusty (the car is 2 years old), and they have been taking it to the touchless every couple of months for washes. The clear coat appeared to be pretty hard, so there wasn't much at all in the way of scratching (thanks to the touchless?). I didn't even have to take the PC and any compounds to it. I decided to use only OTC products on this, that the owner could buy themselves to maintain it from here on, and was all done by hand.

Here is the process -

Eagle 1 wash - 2 bucket method

Meguiar's white clay bar

Meguiar's DC 1 Paint Cleaner, followed by Zymol Cleaner Wax

Meguair's Cleaner Wax was applied to the wheels (the bottle that came with the clay kit)

The tires, and wheel wells were treated with basic Armor All (again, trying to keep this basic for the owner), and buffed with a terry cloth rag to a low gloss.

I am not a fan of spraying water in an engine compartment, so the engine was wiped down, by hand, with an assortment of rags and brushes, that I dipped into a bucket of water with a little degreaser. The black plastics under the hood were treated with Armor All, and buffed with a terry cloth towel to a low gloss.

It was a cloudy day, no great sun shots...

THANKS - it took 12 hours on the exterior probably.

I have a lot better products in my garage than what I used, as well as a PC, but the point was to show the owner how to keep their car looking better than average using products found at most local big box stores. I hate to overwhelm a person that I know isn't going to put the time and money and research into their car that most of us do.

Cool, even though I don't like the body style of that car, it's nice to see how clutter-free the engine bay is. Now that's something I wouldn't mind detailing under the hood.

For a cleaner wax, that thing came out fantastic.

Tell the owners to simply pick up some duragloss aquawax to protect. Dont get any easier than that.

Looks nice, but dont see anything for protection.

Cleaner waxes dont protect...

Dont know where you got your info but you need to stop getting it from wherever your getting it.

They do protect, not as much as a pure wax but they do protect. Almost all CW's last a good 3-4 weeks.

Good job! I agree the Duragloss products are OTC and AW is very easy to use.

Props to you for educating the owner on proper care.

Nice work! My Dad and I both have an 07 hhr. His is silver and mines black. Love this car/truck/suv whatever. Ill have to post my C&B on his silver one I did a while back this summer.
