too many cars....
Hey

I have my first black truck to detail this Sat. I was seeing if you guys have any pointers or suggestions to make the process go smooth. I will be clay barring for sure and using my PC with Wizards buffing supplys. Thanks

not knowing about your Wizard line but prep, prep, prep is going to be the key to a good job. By that I mean clay after washing, polishing or a dedicated swirl remover next, then wax / sealant or both would be my choice.

Black is not a hard color just time consuming as it shows everything. So I find that if I move slow and really pay attention to the paint as I go, the finish will come out great.

If you have a glaze you could add that after by hand between the polish and wax stage...mots glazes have fillers and can help mask some of the imperfections that you get with black..its what I do

 RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

double the amount of time your going to plan...

I hate black..

the only black car I'll do..

Black is a hard color to care for, but, IMO, there isn't a nicer color when clean. Beemerboy gave some really good advice, but I would like to add that you might want to go over the car really thoroughly after each polishing/sealing/waxing step. Black is very deceiving in a garage and will show every spot you missed in the sunlight.

That's a good tip as I go over the panels once done with QD and a MF towel seems like you never get all the product or smudges off

Unfortunately, for my paint, a final wipe down and inspection isn't always sufficient. Don't get me wrong, it helps, but I have to go the extra mile to make sure my paint isn't hiding something. I guess it's the price I pay for owning a black vehicle.

Well if its like mine and I started a thread not long back about this....I can get the finial inspection in the sun, car looks perfect and is by my site...two days later a spot appears in an area that I know I wiped down

Yeah, I remember that thread and it happens to me every single time too. I've just given in and realized that I will need to do another wipe down two days after the original detail.
