FireFox question

For some reason, when I use FF to browse Autopia, none of the buttons work. The buttons I am referring to are "LINKS, SEARCH, etc. " Is there something I forgot to download when installing FF, or maybe a setting I can change? Thanks guys.

I've had issues with the buttons not working unless the page is fully loaded. If I try to click the search button while the page is loading, I'll get a 404 error.Because the links and search button use a animated dropdown script, it may be a java-script issue. Did you try updating to the latest java runtimes? http://www.sun.com/java/

I've never had this problem using FF on my desktop, but since all I have right now is my notebook to use, it's giving some trouble.

I thought I had the latest version of Java, but I uninstalled it and installed the latest version anyway. Still doesn't work. Everything works fine when I use IE, but if I click on any of the buttons that have dropdown boxes, all I get is a reloaded page. Very odd.

Any other ideas?

works ok for me. using firefox 1.06.

I do notice a minor problem with cookies using firefox and opera though. my bookmarks used to be to http://www.autopia.org and the site would never remember who I was and I had to log-in each time I visited the site. Changing the bookmark to http://autopia.org (without the www) corrected the problem.

update: I was able to reproduce your problem I think. When I disabled "java script" in firefox, the links button reloaded the page and the search button gave me a 404 error.

You can find the setting under tools-options-web features. Make sure the "Enable java script" checkbox is checked.

Oh, don't get me wrong. FF is absolutely awesome, and I've been using it flawlessly for the last few months on my desktop at home, but since I don't have a home anymore and my desktop is probably under 10 ft of water, I had to resort to using my laptop and don't quite have all the bugs worked out in it yet.

I've never had this problem with FF before, which is why I am thinking there must be a setting somewhere that needs to be changed or something.

I thought you were onto something, but then I checked and the java script is alread enabled.

I don't get a 404 error when clicking on the SEARCH button, I get a URL Not Found message.

Also, when I check the Java Script console, I have quite a few errors.

I just installed a new hard drive on this computer two weeks ago, so everything in it is the latest version. This is killing me because I've never encountered this before, and I hate IE compared to FF, but am forced to use it. I wonder if reinstalling FF will fix it....?

Jason..back sure you are running the latest version of FF. 1.06. I have been using it with no problems at all on Autopia.

Hey there, Pat, good to hear from you. Yes, I have 1.06. This is so odd. I think I am just going to reinstall it because it seems that the Java system isn't being engaged by FF for some reason. It's all in place and enabled, but not responding. Like I said, IE works perfectly fine, so Java is working, just not with FF.

Couldn't hurt. I have never had issues with Firefox on the Autopia page, but maybe I've just been lucky.

Another option if you can't get firefox working is Opera. IMO Firefox is still way better, but Opera is similar layout wise (with tabs and everything) and is not too much like IE. Just an idea.

My loyalty is with FF, lol. I absolutely love it, but it just isn't cooperating with me at the moment. I'll figure it out though. There's only so many things it can be.

Jason..is it working on other VB sites like Detail City??? They also run VB3 I believe and have similar buttons etc.
