Firebird Paint Correction

My friend bought a 96 Firebird for his wife not long ago. The car was driven daily on gravel roads since it was bought new, had never been waxed, and basically neglected in every way possible. It was COVERED in rock chips. Surprisingly there were only 2 small dings in the whole car though. He had talked to me a month or so ago about doing a full correction on it but i never had time to get to it (i did it for free). After looking at it closer i realized what i had gotten myself into. Honestly the front end of the car needed to be repainted due to the extent of damaged caused from the gravel roads. There was also bad scratches all over the car, and the rear bumper had been keyed. I wetsanded the front clip, hood, and part of the fenders, along with all the bad scratches and key marks with 2000 grit. This was in no way a 100% correction job, but it was free. He tryed to pay me, but i told him that he gets to clean all the compound and polish out of the cracks and badges .
Products used - Car Brite Purple clay, Black Pearl #2 medium compound and wool pad, Black Pearl polish and blue foam pad, Black Pearl Sealant and white finishing pad, AG HD wax, Pro Liquid Blue Ice tire dressing. All machine work was done with a Harbor Freight rotary.

mrclean81 you must be a good friend to do all that work for free. What a great turn around!!! What grit paper did you wet sand with? I haven't gotten involved in a big wet sanding job like this yet. The car looks great now. I can see in the reflection that you have good taste in music too.

Thank you. I used 2000 grit on it. There were a few places that I really should have went down to 1500 but it worked out anyway.
you mentioned my shirt..I'm a bit of a Led Head haha.

Wow! Great job...I'm kinda nervous though; I live on a gravel road, but only for 10 months. Tuscarora Dave is coming to my house tomorrow to teach me how to do my car...Can't wait for mine to shine like that Firebird.

Thanks everyone for all the compliments. krismy you have a great teacher. There is no doubt your car will look great. Just drive slow and dont ride peoples bumpers and gravel isnt a prob. I lived on gravel roads all my life. I know all about how hard it is to keep a car or even a house free of dust. Thankfully the state of Illinios finally let go of the money to blacktop all of our roads here about 8 years ago.
