Finishing with 106FF. LC White or Green?

Hi guys,

Should I finish my BMW with the LC white or green (their German polishing/finishing pad) with my 106FF? I'll be using a PC.

Thanks!

I would go for the green pad. Beacuse I mostly handle cars with harder clears. Blue is IMO to soft on the harder clears(IE to take away marring from compounding).

EDIT:

Did just see that you have a grey metallic BMW, then the green pad would be perfect.

I just finished claying, polishing with IP/Orange and 106FF/White. My car looks pretty good. I would guess about 70% defect removal. Since I wasn't shooting for perfection, I would have to say I'm very pleased.

Tomorrow I will be sealing with a few coats of Z2 and Clear Seal. Look for some photos in the C/B.

And a little rant: LC pads kind of suck. I used two new white pads today (one detail last week with them), and one delaminated, while the foam on the other just disintegrated. What the heck?

I'm like SVR - I always finish 106FF with black and sometimes blue but I'm using a rotary. If I can speculate a bit I think the white on a PC would finish down 106FF nicely and think the green density might be a little too harsh. I will say though that I've never tried the green pads and don't have any expereince to share with that density but I finish all BMW's with the black pad and when using 106FF they look amazing. I will however defer to porta's experience as he's used the green pads and like them on your paint.

If you have the time you might want to try both your green and then a white side by side and see which one you like better as the final result. If you like one better than the other do the one you don't like over and then your set to tackle the rest of the car with the combo you've found works the best for you.

The green pad finishes perfect on the rotary with 106ff. I can't speak for the PC though I would think that anything lighter than the white pad wouldn't do much and would take a long time to break down.

the green pad works well with most finishing polishes by rotary. If using a PC I'd reccomend the white pad as it is more firm and will allow for better breakdown of the product.
