Finish Face Off

Wax on, Wax off
Just split my Yukon into 4 sections. Applied the following products -
Four Star UPP
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant
Meguiar's Polymer Paint Sealant
Auto Magic Paint Sealant
Figured I'd give them a go around and see if I could tell a noticeable difference in ease of use, shimmer and durability. All were applied and removed by hand.
Ease of use went to UPP. Followed by Wolfgang, Auto Magic then Meguiars.
Not that any were overly hard to work with. The AM and Meguiars were harder than the others, again not too much work though. UPP was very nice and easy to use.
Shimmer and slickness, hell that is tough. They all feel slick as hell. The Auto Magic and Meguiars had a different feel, more waxy and softer than the others. But the slickness of 4* and Wolfgang might have been a microscopic bit more.
Durability, well we will have to wait and see. I will figure out how to post pics in a bit.
Thanks for the website, great place to exchange ideas and experiences.

If you mean the 10QT sealant, I've tried it. Looked nice, but beading was dead at about the 5-6 week mark on my test cars.
Haven't tried Megs 21 (if that's the one you were referring to).

Yes 10QT. At 18$ a quart though, not a bad deal. But it wasn't the easiest to work with.
What kinda time were you getting from the UPP and WG?

Haven't tried UPP. I have tried 4* Pro sealant, which is purported to be a more cost effective sealant that is "close but not quite as good" as UPP, and so far it's looking good, beading, etc. at the 6 week mark (Currently ongoing test). So if UPP is better than the Pro version, I guess UPP would be the durability king of the group, but as I said, I haven't tried UPP yet. Wolfgang was in the month-6 week range too, IIRC. Haven't used it for a while.

Uh, 1 week update here, ( tomorrow actually ) and all four sections feel pretty smooth and are retaining a nice shine. No difference between them as far as I can tell. Even asked a few unknowing neighbors for their opinions and all concurred, all areas of Yukon felt equally soft and slick.
Next update 11-17

Thanks for doing this comparo. If they're all as good as they're supposed to be, this could take months to detect a difference.

Have they repelled dust and dirt equally well?

Another update scheduled for today... can't wait to hear from magicman411 how the products are holding up :yay

Edited: Can you list the environmentals (temp range, rain, ect) between each updates and some other variables like approx driving/garage mix? This will give us a better idea how these products may hold up for us.

Thanks!
