Hey Everyone,

FI II is always mentioned but Cmax in Mississauga appears to have old stock only have the regular Finesse IT (not II). What the difference between the two products?

Also, 3M appear to have a grading scale i.e. I II III

What the difference i.e. Machine Glaze I, MG II and MG III???

Thanks,

Paco

The difference in the two products is that one is old stock and one is newer. The newer one being Finesse It II.

I would recommend not buying the old stock of Finesse It since liquid product may decrease in performance after 3-5 years Meguiar's shelf life.)

The I, II, and III, in my opinion are used by 3M to signal newer formulations and improvements on a previous product line.

3M Machine Glaze III is said to be more agressive than 3M SMR, less agressive than 3M Finesse It II, and contain no fillers. This product is taking the power of 3M Finesse It II (or close to it) without the fillers in 3M SMR.

Maybe you can have a member of this forum ship some 3M product up to you in Canada.

Jason -

Jeepers creepers, 3M has around 4-6 mild polishes. I doubt you even need them. Do you really need to be more application specific than 3M SMR, 3M FI-II and 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound?

Joe, I was answering Paco's questions. I forgot about recommending the 3M products. You are correct in saying only a few 3M products are needed. I know an older member had great success with just 3M Perfect It Rubbing Compound fine cut and 3M SMR. The Finesse It II is optional but good to have around.

So I would recommend 3M Perfect it SMR, 3M Finesse It II, and 3M PI FC RC for a nice range of polishes going from light to heavy, like Joe said.

PS I have around 8 different polishes!

I don't have the FI-II product, just the SMR and the Fine Cut stuff.

For my medium polish (if I even need it) I was thinking Auto International Clear Coat compound. Seems more effective and easier to remove than 3M FI-II

The AutoInt Clear Coat Compound is similar to 3M PI Rubbing Compound Medium Cut.

AutoInt's Machine Polish/Swirl Remover is similar to 3M Finesse It II.
