Finally warm out!..for a few hours

Hey,

I worked on this '97 Explorer (family vehicle) for about 2 hours after school got out today. I'll be doing a complete spring detailing on this vehicle soon, but didn't have time today. Procedure was a wash, then I tried out my new Blackfire polish and wax that just came from CMA. I didn't touch windows/tires/wheels/trim, just painted surfaces. Blackfire polish was applied with an LC white pad on the PC (about spd. 3.5) and the wax was applied by hand with a regular foam applicator. All products were removed with MF's. I was very impressed with the Blackfire. The polish really made a difference and the wax ("All Finish Paint Protection") really added to the final look. The key was to apply very thin, work until nearly dry, and then wipe off with MF's. I didn't encounter any major problems with streaking or difficult removal. These pictures don't do the finish of this vehicle justice - I'll be using Blackfire products more often now. I also have a Klasse kit to try out for the first time soon, so I'll hve to see how that works out too. I was running out of light, but got few good shots in...

The left 1/3-1/2 of the hood has had the polish and wax applied in this pic - I could see a noticeable difference while looking at the hood myself, though it doesn't show up as well in the pic.

The Blackfire covered most of the swirls from the winter of automatic car washes (It's my mom's car - she doesn't understand the whole detailing thing), but let a few through.

This is one of the better reflections of myself taking a picture that I have gotte off of this vehicle. Other than the fact that Ford seemed to think that orange peel was a cool new style in paint jobs, it's not bad.
