Finally got the Whole car done ... with a bit of a teaser

Well, I've been working on my car for about 3 months now, never really getting a chance to do it all at once. Before today, all that had really been polished was the hood and passenger side, but today I did the whole thing.



Process:



Wash with Accumulator-esque wash method

Clay

PB SSR 2.5 on orange and/or green Propel pad as needed

PB SSR 1 on everything

PB EX

and a coat of #16 for the fun of it



Anyways, turned out pretty good I think. Oh, BTW, 50 bonus points to anyone who can figure out what the red car is in the background of the pics (and no, it's not what your gut is telling you either). Anyways, considering all the dents and dings and the nice crease on the passenger side, it turned out nice. Enjoy



PS, yeah, I now realize I forgot the wheel wells, Doh!

Sun went behind the trees before I got to take the pics, but almost all the marring is gone, and most of the scratches are pretty much gone. All that is left are some nasty bird bomb outlines and some water spots that I couldnt get out. Not bad, considering I don't think this car ever saw a coat of wax until I bought it a little over a year ago. Enjoy

Glad to hear/see that you got it looking so nice. Heh heh, you didn't need to resort to the fillers/etc. in Meg's #80 after all ;)



The red Poncho looks sorta like a 67-69 Catalina, but IIRC the tail lights aren't quite right for that. Maybe a Bonnie or a VIP (or was it called an Exective, I forget) :confused:
 
So far Accumulator is by far the closest (thanks for the complement BTW, it turned out nice). Take a step smaller in body size, and it is a Pontiac. I was gonna show the headlights in a different pic, but it would be too obvious which "family" it would be in.

67 Tempest, the GTO had the four bars on each side. It's my dad's "Toy" as he calls it. He has had it since he was 18, and has stored it at my Grandpa's house almost ever since. Last few summers he's been taking it out and working on it. This summer's projects are redoing the interior, new stereo, and swapping out the distributor. Hopefully next year ... rebuilding the 427 Police Interceptor. Got all the parts, just need to get it machined and assembled. Anyways, that was fun :D
 
Heh heh, "mid size" cars of that vintage must look bigger to me these days. Good spotting blkZ28Conv :xyxthumbs (yeah, I now recall that the '69s were the different ones)
 
I almost hate to admit I was a teenager during those glory days of American muscle. Somewhat of an unfair advantage for me. :o

Going back to the detail... that's got to be the slickest looking Cavalier I've seen. Great job! :xyxthumbs
 
Thanks, took about six and a half hours yesterday, but I had put in some hours before polishing the hood. Total time was probably 8-10. It was fun though.
