if the SMR doesn't work then im guessing switch to FI-II or DACP?

Also what color pads do you guys use to apply AIO and SG?? thanks a lot. i'm guessing it'll take a while to get used to but im excited to learn.

Just ordered my PC today as well, I am ready to start PC'ing myself.

Get Pads from Topoftheline. I use the 7.5" Lake Country Pads. Yellow for Cutting, White for Polishing, Black for Finishing. If you buy 6 they're $45.

I used speeds 3 - 4 with a White Pad and Pinnacle PaintCleaning Lotion and was able to get out some mild water spots and very light oxidation.

I do the second wash after clay, just my preference. Also, I use Zaino, so do another dawn wash and Z7 wash after the polishing stage.

Good Luck, You'll Love the PC !

Yep, definitely a more aggressive product like DACP if SMR doesn't work. In fact, if you had never used any swirl removers before, I would skip the SMR, as it would only take out the most minor swirls.

After DACP, I would only use the finishing pad for AIO and SG. If you use SMR, though, then I might try a polishing pad with AIO to do a little more cleaning of the paint.

*I* would clay during the wash step and just (very quickly) rewash the panel after claying. It'll go a lot faster this way (don't try it if you're washing in the sun, though).

For swirl/scratch removal, I'd bet you're gonna find that you need something stronger than SMR. It's easy (and VERY common) for a new PC owner to waste a LOT of time when first starting out, usually because they try to remove marring with too mild a pad/product combo. The PC isn't quite the miracle worker it's sometimes made out to be.

If you have clearly visible marring, AT LEAST get some 3M PI-III MG (pn 05937). Use a yellow (cutting) pad to remove the marring as best you can (I predict you'll quit before you get it all out, this is normal ;) ) and follow up with a quick pass with a white (polishing) pad if the resulting finish isn't smooth enough for you (it very well might be OK without this step). Don't be afraid to use high speeds (I start at 3 to avoid slinging, then speed up to 6).

THEN use the white pad to apply the AIO (speed 3-4.5). If you want to apply the SG by machine (THIN THIN THIN) use the gray (finishing) pad (speed 3-4). *I* like to remove SG using CMA's The Max suede-style MF bonnet.
