Just hoping someone can at least point me in some direction.
I have a custom fiberglass bumper. It needs repainted every spring. Thankfully my cousin is an awesome body work guy.
I detail the entire car and the bumper, which should be a focal point since it's a rare custom bumper, is such an eyesore.
So should I just repaint every year for 150-200 or is there any way to protect the paint that will last the winter? I was even extra cautious and stayed back from traffic. But with the 2 blizzards there was salt and crap on the roads all winter.
So I just polished it today halfway through my spring detail overhaul and there are waaaaaay too many chips to touch up. It looked so amazing in September when he repainted it...
Is my only other option besides repainting every year to make my own clear bra on the worst spots? if so any experience detailing the clear vinyl on cars? covering the entire bumper seems impossible. I would do 2 main strips which will likely show lines...
What I'm hoping to learn (no searching or expert advice has helped so far) is there a secret to painting fiberglass to help it resist chipping? or any help is much appreciated.
