Hey everyone,

I am planning on upgrading my audio system. But the only problem i have is that i don't know how i am going to connected my amp to my head unit which has fiber optic wires. If anyone knows how i am going to do this let me know Thank You

you can pickup premade cabels /.dont buy monster cable they suck and cost to much money.put in a web search ,i know one site is bluejeancable.com

Is the problem that you need a FO cable to get from one unit to the other?

Or is the problem that one of the two units has a FO port and the other doesn’t?

Yeah the amp isnt fiber optic but the head unit is.......The amp is standard copper wire but what i dont get is how i am going to connect a copper wire amp to a fiber optic headunit..

You aren’t. Not directly anyway.

When connecting two pieces of electronics the output from one must match the input of the other. They must be the same physically (FO, copper, RCA, TOSLINK, XLR, BNC or whatever) and they must be the same type of signal (digital, analog, RF, line level, power level, etc).

It sounds like your head unit has a digital FO output (probably S/PDIF format) and your amp only takes analog voltage (can’t tell if it’s line or power level without more of a description) on copper wire as an input.

Unless your head unit also has analog outputs you’ll need to have something in between them to convert the digital signal to an analog signal.

What are the makes and model#’s of your units? What kind of connectors do they have on them?
