Few Stupid Questions...

Okay I can't figure out what QD means, someone please enlighten me! Also, is ONR the way to go? I just figured out what that is, lol.

Is waxing by hand just as effective as a machine polisher, or are they completely different?

And lastly, how many towels do I need to dry the car, it is dark blue and I noticed today i had swirl marks, but I used the same MF towel for everything and I think that was a mistake.

Thanks in advance, and don't laugh to hard at me I am a newbie at car detailing!

QD= quick detailer

using ONR is a personal preference and water restrictions make this a good choice.

buy a DA (porter cable 7424xp, G110v2, Griots 6" random orbital) as it will out perform and give you consistent results more than your hands ever will (use it to remove defects, apply glazes, wax/sealant, etc). every detailer/enthusiast should have one IMO.

if you use the sheeting method with just the hose on your final rinse, you will eliminate more than 50% of the water to dry off. get a few large high quality waffle weave or drying microfiber towels. also, buy a dozen good high quality microfiber towels for the paint, and you can get bulk microfiber pack at costco/sams club that you can use for other areas such as door jams, interior, wheels, etc. make sure to wash and keep these towels seperate from each other...

btw... :welcome

The polisher is more for removing defects in the paint with a compound or polish, not just for applying wax.
