Last saturday I detailed my car, not a full detail because I didn't have enough time
Car is a '97 cosmosblack(ouch not the easiest color
) BMW convertible. Don't have any pics sorry but I don't have my own digital camera and I forgot to take the one from work, another nice thing on my wish list beside a PC.
I'm a newbie into this and also it was the first time I used a clay bar and the Meguiar's products, and I used everything by hand. This is what I did, started early in the morning;
- Washed with Meg's GC shampoo
-Clayed with a 3M clay bar, this was great, found it very easy and all the dirt like tree sap etc. came off easy
-Meg's #9 Swirl remover, probably nice stuff but by hand hmm should have lots off time to do the area's more then one time. But like I said didn't have much time and the sun came trough the clouds and it became a bit hot outside. So did the car once with it but the effect wasn't that great ---> time for some machine work I guess
-Meg's #7 Show car glaze, was easy on/off but the weather wasn't going to help anymore and it became quite hot now and some parts like the trunk lid took a lot of sun light and heated up quickly(ouch black paint again) had the idea the stuff became a bit streaky on the trunk lid.
-Meg's #26 paste wax, easy on/off as well but again on the trunk lid a short time after I wiped it off there was a sort of haze/film/streaking don't know what to call it exactly, so waxed the trunk lid again and it looked somewhat better.
On monday it started raining a lot and yesterday evening when it was dry I walked around the car and saw a lot of streaking on the trunk lid. Grabbed a MF towel and QD and used it on the trunk lid but it didn't do much.
Could it be because of the weather that the streaking occurs, by the time I used #7 and #26 especially the trunk lid(the hood was more in the shade so hadn't much trouble with that) was heated up pretty much and exposed to the sun a lot.
How long do you have to wait for #26 to dry before wiping it off?
What is the best thing to do now, I will wash the car saturdaymorning. Should I after washing, wiping it off with QD and then wax again or should I use #9, #7 and #26 again on the trunk lid, maybe even clay it again?
Another question, I got some free products from Meguiar's, Tire dressing and GC leather/cleaner conditioner. I used some of the GC leather stuff yesterday but this stuff is really thick I was used to Sonax leather cleaner/conditioner whick is almost like milk(smells the same as the Meg's stuff btw.). I have the idea that with the Sonax stuff I can get more product on the leather, with Meg's product there was more left on the towels,they got caked with this stuff
Any tips maybe on using this product?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help
