Few questions concerning compounds

Ok, before i go out buying a 7424, i was thinking of using some pretty heavy compound but i need to get something clear first





IF i start out with a harsh compound, I just keep buffing it till it breaks down, correct? Will i need to use a finer compound to get rid of the small swirls the harsh compound will make or not?



I know to do 1 panel at a time, but i should go from top to bottom, correct?



With the pads, what pads should i get to start out with? I am totally confused pad wise. How do i apply the compounds, to the pads or to the car? How much compound do i apply?



Can i wax with the 7424 (colllinite 845 im using at the moment) and as well how do i apply it and what pads do i use?





How do i clean my pads? Are they even reuseable?



Can i buff windows out or is there a film i will eat through?



Where can i get a backing pad for a drill (headlights) and where can i get pads?



What compounds should i start out with? I have pretty severe swirls (DD, was a fleet car, inspectors car)



How long should i buff this in?



Should i clay before buffing?





I will have more questions, sorry to ask, i just want to get this right.

Some compounds simply won't break down properly by PC; their initial cut leaves marks that don't then polish out. That's why some products are "rotary only", i.e., not for use by PC. Gotta get the right stuff. About the most aggressive stuff I've used by PC is High-Temp Extreme Cut, and that seems to work best with 4" pads.

Doesn't matter as long as you do the whole panel usiformly by the time you're finished with it. Do what's convenient and try to develop a pattern so you don't skip/miss something.

Get a few orange light cut pads, some more polishing pads, and maybe a pair of finishing pads.



With the PC, I apply the product to the pad. How much? Less than you think Most people use way too much product and make things hard on themselves. Only use anough product to keep the pad lubricated/moving smoothly, then add more when that's gone/broken down.

Yeah, anything you can do by hand you can do with the PC. Use it the same way you would by hand; put some on a finishing pad and don't overbuff it (don't keep going until it's dry). Let it dry to a haze and then wipe it off. Don't use much, the bottle of 845 oughta do a Crown Vic for many, many years. It won't take one ounce to do the car even if you spill some

I wash mine out with Dawn or Dawn Power Dissolver. Pads can last a long time.

I've never had a problem from polishing windows.

I'd use a 4" orange pad with H-T Extreme Cut. How long should i buff this in?

Until it's almost dry.

Should i clay before buffing?

NO you do a small part of a panel at a time about 16" 16" max till you get the hang of it
