Ferrari California Rosso Corsa flavoured

Hi all! It's been a while since I've posted here, but luckily it's because I've been wicked busy lately. The winter sucked butt nuggets for me as a detailer, but finally things are turning around! The boy's at the factory did a little Californication with this one, just like the other 2 I've done so far, but believe me, I'm not complaining :). No "during pix" and just a small write up as I just don't have the time right now, but I fingered most of you like the porn anyway ;)! So here's the detail >>

When I arrived in the morning the manager had already marked the scratches that he saw with his non-detailer's eye... he was a bit lenient to say the least :).

Eherm... there must be a machine or something that puts the QC stickers on the windows :doublesho .

More Post-Its

Some deep scratches and tape/glue residue... why was tape on the car?

california_3_8.jpg

Back lid hacked to bits as usual. The back lids and a couple of other parts come from another manufacturer (fiberglass) and they're usually the most trashed on these cars (especially the boots).

More glue residue...

Now I've seen some pretty interesting things come from Maranello, but this one is just one to giggle at... they left polish residue on the body! A BIG patch of it! Now I've seen it in the cracks and what not before, but this? It just makes me curious about what kind of machine and what products (Prometheus Polishes I've heard) they're using because it's got a strange pattern to it and was a bit too oily to be wax, but uniform nonetheless.

Some wet sanding marks. I didn't believe Bob (Auto_Concierge) when he said that there were wet sanding marks on the 599 he did, but well, now I have no doubt.

Pass the Dutchie on the left-hand side...

california_3_29.jpg

Now pass the Dutchie on the right-hand side...

california_3_30.jpg

I know you can't see them very well, but there were some stone chips, although minor, on both sides...

After being polished with a finishing pad and InstaCut #15 with lots of jeweling after the polished had broken down.

california_3_33.jpg

As this car was on it's way to Germany on Monday, I had to straighten up the interior, as well.

california_3_34.jpg

Other side

california_3_35.jpg

Some of the several scratches (this was on the roof) that I couldn't take out :(. I had to switch to Scholl S02 with a cutting pad in some places and smooth out with #15 and a polishing pad, then to #15 and a finishing pad, but I still couldn't revive some of the damage as I was getting pretty low on paint according to my PTG. Oh well, I've accepted the fact that I can't save them all and that goes for all cars.

california_3_36.jpg

The sun peeked through the skylights and I got a couple of "sun" shots here on the back wing.

california_3_38.jpg

california_3_39.jpg

The new owner's complimentary jar of Migliore in the trunk... yes, Migliore Primo was the wax of choice :).

california_3_40.jpg

Here's some really crappy afters :(... my camera batteries died so I had to finish with my new LG Arena phone... a bit grainy but an awesome camera in the right light.

jesse nice work man. im curious on that wax you got there. did you offer this as a compliment? was it a fresh can? or was it fresh then you used it on this car and gave the rest? is this common for you to do? seems like a killer idea! good way to make extra cash? anyway nice to see your a live and busy. glad to hear thanks for the right up!

Nice work; that dealership is definitely benefiting huge from your services. FWIW, I have wetsanding marks on the Carrera S I prep'd today. I've seen them on new 430s, a Scuderia, a 599, some Gallardos (LP560s), so ya... maybe we should all work in Maranello? :D

I have heard that all new Ferrari purchases are getting a complimentary jar of the Migliore Primo wax.

Wow you did a great job on what you could correct. that is crazy didn't realize there quality control was so poor.

Thanks! Yeah, it's crazy but I guess Ferrari doesn't really care, because there's people like me to correct it ;)!

Thanks Barry! Nope, the wax isn't to make cash with or anything; the owner of the dealership liked the wax and since meeting me has become a lot more educated on how cars should be cared for so he decided that a new tub of Migliore should go out with all the new cars :).

Cheers buddy! And I'm also benefiting from Maranello's services :D:D! I have a feeling one of these days they might ask me to go to teach the boys in Maranello, because the owner of the dealership always calls and says stuff like, "Our detailer found more automatic car wash bristles on a NEW car again... what the f**k is that???"

It's amazing that such a great car can start off with so many defects. Great job.

Info. on that light you use?

It's a Hungarian brand, Osram, with 3 different lights on it (spotlight, which is very good, the led ring and a small neon bar on the side. Me loves it :)!

Hey apuci - why would a ferrari go to Germany from Hungary?

Great work!:bow:bow:bow

Thank you szépen urám! It's pretty common for people to come to Hungary and buy them because they're usually sold out in other countries pretty quickly. The Scuderia 16M I did also went to Germany.
