Ferrari 458 Italia in the works!

My client's 458 Italia just arrived yesterday, so it's time to improve on Ferrari's paint finishing. I got to inspect it this morning with the Brinkmann, and as expected it's in less than stellar condition (significant wool marring all over the car). I'll probably end up with about 20 hours in this to get it to the condition that it deserves.

I'll start on it this afternoon, and will post up a few photos for everybody.

Oh, and I got to take a bit of a ride in it this morning as well...absolutely stunning vehicle. With the new transmission and double clutch, the shifts happen almost instantaneously! 570hp, 202mph...

Stay tuned!

Looks nice, eh?

And more still:

50/50 shot on front bumper. There were still a few scratch remnants after this test section, but they all cleaned up nicely after I got my system down:

Despite the paint being in typical form when directly from the factory (which is, err, bad!), this car is a technical marvel and an absolute beauty. By the time I get done with it, the 458 will look completely different! I'll be working on this over the next several days.

I love that car. After seeing your posts I definitely can say it is in good hands and I cant wait to see the final outcome!

Ahh, looks like we'll be sending a mutual fruit basket to Guido and the boys :)! The bumpers are always the worst... Tip: a 50 mm thick finishing pad comes in handy for the back air intakes! And you're absolutely right, that is a technical marvel despite aesthetic flaws...

The bumpers are quite bad, the curvature of the air intakes are definitely challenging (especially when they left me with heavy wool scratches), and the entire car requires a lot of time with 4" spot pads. So far I've found some spot re-painting (blend marks), overspray, a few burned edges and compound residue that wasn't even fully removed from the lower flat panels. The color is transforming right in front of my eyes however, and this is going to be a true beauty when I'm finally finished with it (probably tomorrow).

Thanks for the input Jesse!

That is a really stunning car. Is the owner local or out of town?

Let me know if you need any of my expertise. LOL!

Thanks...local owner.

Hi Todd, You come from detailedimage right? I like your review and blog. ^^

Yep, that's me! I'm glad you enjoy the blog. :)

Beautiful!!! Can't wait to see the write up.

They had the 458 unveiling here in Toronto and a friend attended and told me how terrible the condition of the paint was, hopefully I can get my hand on one as well. :buffing:

Can't wait to see the final product. Thanks again for the referrals. Took care of one today and making room in the apt book for the other in the coming weeks.

^ +1

Stunning work. We were trying to finish a jet black 3 series yesterday when I got the txt message with a pic...

You make it hard to focus!

Great work and look forward to seeing more

Nice, can't wait to see the final end results.

Sad to see such great cars have such horrible finishes from the factory, you'd think Ferrari could get it right after all these years of producing world class cars??? Guess that just makes what we do even greater.:2thumbs:
