I'd like to know what products from start to finish everyone chooses for their best detail. If you could write the name out and what step it is used for that would be appreciated.
 
For me, clay if need, polish with Menzerna PO85RD, red moose glaze., and pinnicle Souvervan. JMO Have fun
 
With so many teriffic products out there and so many different "detailing senarios" ( depending on the type & condition of your paint ) there might be more than just 1 process for a "best detail".

1) wash ( maxi suds or Z7)

2) clay ( insert your favorite clay bar here )

3) wash again ( optional for some )

4) polish or paintwork cleaner ( Klase All In One )

5) glaze (optional-depending upon using a carnauba or synthetic sealant)

6) sealant or carnauba wax ( some sealants layer well w/ multiple coats )

7) carnauba wax topper ( again, optional. some love to top a sealant with carnauba )

8) maintain with quality quick detail spray& weekly washes



Then ofcourse, there's the interior detail. My "best detail" always includes Interior/exterior, wheels & tires, windows & trim ( including wheel wells & door jams )



When it comes to products, I simply love many of the products that are discussed here on this site. I have no affiliation with ANY companies, however, I am partial to a few. I love the Chemical Guy's product lineup, Poorboy's, Klasse,Zaino,ClearKote,Pinnacle & P21S products.....just to name a few.
 
Paint flaw correction is always an issue. I must say that if you're detailing by hand, it can be "challenging" to say the least to remove marring/scratches by hand. A "best detail" should include a quality polish, if needed. If correction is needed I suggest a PC & a mild polish. Otherwise, glazes can be used to "mask" some marring. VM,RMG,Revive Glaze & Creme Glaze are my glazes of choice when I'm using a carnauba wax. For polishes, I like Optimum Polish & the Chemical Guy's polishes. To me, Klasse All In One is more of a chemical cleaner for paint. It does a tremendous job cleaning paint & makes for an awesome base for any sealants/waxes.

Sometimes a "best detail" for the exterior is quite simply a good wash,clay followed up with Klasse All In One topped with Natty's Blue. It's an effective "quicky" detail. If you're a carnauba junkie like I am, try these carnauba's on for size........Natty's Blue,Souveran,P21S,XXX Hardcore Wax,Trade Secret, DP Max Wax,Meg's #26 ( or Meg's #16) Extreme Depth Carnauba,Butter Wet Wax & any of the ClearKote waxes.

For sealants, I like & use, try........Zaino Z5/Z2 Pro/Z8,Klasse All In One/Sealant Glaze,Wolfgang & Extreme Top Coat Sealant w/ 3x Carauba.

When it comes to Quick Detail Sprays, I use the following to maintain my carnauba wax finish.......Crystal Mist, Sonus Carnauba Spritz, QuickShine, Poorboy's Spray & Gloss & any of the Chemical Guy's qd's.

For qd'ing Klasse AIO/SG I use Sonus Acrylic Spritz & Acrylic Glanz.

For qd'ing Zaino, I use Z6 & Z8.

For other sealants I use QuickShine,Spray & Gloss & the CG qd's.

For your interior panels,consoles & dash I use IZ Cockpit Premium & Chemical Guy's V.R.T.. (sometimes 303 as well)

For cleaning exterior glass I use Klasse AIO, Zaino Z12 & AutoGlym Glass Polish.For interior glass cleaning, I use Sprayway,Bon Ami & Stoners Glass Cleaner.

For tires, I love Z16,WG & CG Clear Liquid Extreme Tire Shine.

For mf's, I use PakShak mf's,Sonus Der Wunder Buffing Towels & Concours Buffing Towels.

For exterior trim, mud guards,bedliners & door seals I'm now using the new Gel from Chemical Guy's. Teriffic products that seal/restores vinyl,plastic & rubber. (doesn't run after washes or rain, either)

These are just a few of the products I use frequently. So many products.......So little time!!
 
for me

wash - poorboys soap n suds

WG clay

Rotary w/ dacp 1000rpm

VM w/ pc speed 5 LC fininshing pad

RMG w/ pc speed 4 LC finishing pad

4* UPP x 3 / pc speed 3/4 LC black pad

Natty's blue x 2



I'll be switching the UPP with Collinite 845 in days to come



my LSP changes depending on the customer

but basically i stick with the easy to remove LSP's.. WG, UPP , and hopefully now 845
 
thanks for all the information. I am trying to get as much information from everyone as possible so that I can decide what I want to go with.
 
Thanks BlkTac05 for such a complete and informative post. I use many of the products that you mentioned but have often mixed and matched them. Will try your method on many of the items mentioned to try and get optimum results.



on the aside, I use to haul sheep out of San Angelo between Christmas and New Year's. Always was a nice town for me.

Nice to see you're familiar with San Angelo. I was born & raised just south of Boston,Mass & moved here about 3 years ago. I'm starting to get used being here, in the middle of nowhere. It's just different here in West Texas. Slower pace of life.... No stress.....No traffic......Cost of living is dirt cheap!......Southern country women are gorgeous! Not as many miserable people......No zero degree winters..... No snow in the winter. (the 100 degree, 6 month long summers bite the big one, though!) Detailing season is about 10 months long, which is nice for a detailing junkie like me. However........No trees.....No ocean....No Fall Foliage.....No Old World-Melting Pot city like Boston.....No Mountains....No "Chowdah!!".....No thriving Pro Sports scene, like Beantown. Radio & t.v. is a joke out here. (small market area) Other than that, My family is here & that makes the biggest difference in the world! Life is short & you only live once, so spend as much time with the people who mean the most to you!!

Would you glaze before a Carnauba sealant or a synthetic?



I am planing on using the CG Creme Glaze after CG Pro Polish and then top with CG extreme Top Coat Sealant. Will this work?

It's funny that you ask because I was speaking with Paul,yesterday, and asked him a similar question. He told me that all the CG products are compatible, so your process should work just fine. As for my personal preference......I use a glaze directly under carnauba waxes only. I have yet to use a glaze in concert with a synthetic sealant.

The Extreme Top Coat Sealant contains a polish level of 6 per the website and I was wondering if it would remove the Creme Glaze.



Would it be better to Glaze, Seal, Wax OR Seal, Glaze, Wax using the products we are discussing from CG.

I'm sure either way will work with the CG products, however I'm not sure as to the abrasive level (if any) of the Top Coat Sealant. If no abrasives, then glaze-seal-wax. I'd seal-glaze-wax if the Top Coat Sealant contains abrasives. If you call Paul ( I spoke with him for 45 minutes yesterday. It's never a short conversation with him. lol ) ) I'd be interested in hearing what you found out.
 
Just got an e-mail form Eric of CG and he says that ETCS will not remove the Creme Glaze and to Glaze then Seal.

I will be working on all colors of cars. The main concern I have is for darker cars (black, dark greys etc)
