I was at a paint shop yesterday checking out the Meguiars Pro line. I wanted to get DACP, Swire Free, and Hand Polish in gallon sizes. I was asking the store clerk about Meguiars. He said that they lowered the price because nobody was buying them. He said that he is sending his stock back to Meguiars. I said "Why?" He said that Farecla is much better. He said that he can't keep it in stock. All the bodyshops are using it. They are like $30 for 32 ounces or something. Thats pretty expensive:scared . I've never heard of farecla before. What do you guys think? Is it really better? Is it worth that much money for so little? Have any of you guys used Farecla? How was it? How do you compare it to Meguiars?

Could it be your distributer is steering you towards the Farecla products because there is a higher markup and he makes more selling them? I find it hard to believe body shops would pay 5 times the price for a polish or compound. The stuff would have to be 5 times superior to Meguiars to warrant that much of a jump in price.

Is it the shop that is lowering the price of Meguiars BSP line? It certainly isn't Meguiars as far as I can tell. My distributer hasn't dropped his prices. Also, they have trouble at times keeping the BSP line in stock, especially when it first came out.

I've never tried Farecla products, so I certainly wouldn't slam them, but I do find it hard to believe they could be that much better to be worth 5 times the price of Meguiars BSP line. Besides, only 3 grades of compounds?

It would have to be an extrodinary product line to be worth 5 times the cost of Meguiars.

However, I welcome the competition, if it really is that good, then I am sure Meguiars will do whatever it takes to match the performance.

yeah scottwax, I was surprised at the cost. I hear everyone getting great results with Meguiars. I think I will contact Farecla for some free samples. I mean, I want to try this stuff and be sure before I put down that kind dough for it.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting that Farécla is 5 times the cost of Meguiars products. Around here its selling for anywhere from $25-$30 for 32ozs which is right on par with 3m polishes and compounds. Meguiars products average about $14 per 32ozs so that would make Farecla roughly twice as expensive as Meguiars not 5 times as expensive. Dont get me wrong, Megs products are very good. I use and really like DACP, #9, #2, and sometimes DCC for after colorsanding. Just dont count Farecla out because of the price. From what little experience I have with their G-mop pad and G-10 polish it seems very very good and IMO worth the cost.

I can get a gallon of DACP for about $25 bucks, so if Farecla is nearly $30 a quart, then yes, it is 5 times the cost.

I'm not sure if Farecla is available in gallon sizes but I was comparing apples to apples. A quart of DACP lists for $18 thus making 32ozs of Farecla 66.666% more expensive than 32ozs of Megs.
