faded white walls

i was at an auto parts store and there was a guy asking an employee for something to repair his faded out white walls. i have the same problem, could be from product use or aggressive scrubbing dunno. is there such a product?

when the store didn't have a remedy for the guy he said i'll just have to to use some white out. i wonder if its the same guy from another thread who used ajax to wash his car, both of them have the same thought process  .

lmao! whiteout.... what a "dummy"....

thats funnier than the blonde joke of the blond who uses whiteout on the computer screen for every mis type.

Most good APC's will bring back the White in a Whitewall or Raised Letters.
A little scrubbing with a firm brush and they should pop right back:)
Ajax : :w00t:

Are they faded like speckled, so that black rubber is coming through? Or is it that they are just faded? If it's the first, turn them inside. If it's the second, APC or wheel acid will do it.

You can see the rubber coming through, are there white walls on the other side? if that is case that would a good idea.

They do make something for that. It looks like a marker, works like a bingo dabber. Just touch up your white wall or letter that have been curbed up.

They sell them at autozone. I forgot what there called. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

TrueDetailer has the right idea, it has been so long since I have see what he describes that the one I remember is in a bottle like the White Shoe Polish dabber with the tiny sponge on the top....wow.... I just dated my self on that one....any repair your going to do on a White Wall is going to look like Hell or that it has been repainted, it just won't match up as well as the factory White wall once did.

good luck

Usually there are whitewalls only on one side, but the black can look good.

If the rubber is showing through, nothing can clean it. You have to dye it, like the "bingo dabber/shoe polish" thing above.

First off I'm not exactly sure what the white wall you are talking about with out a picture but I'm assuming that the white lettering isn't white anymore. Westley's Bleche White does a good job of cleaning the tires and bringing the white back. If the white has worn off for some reason (I thought the lettering was white all the way through) then you can touch it up but I don't think that'll look good. I probably would just sand it down a little to get rid of all of the white and leave it with an even black finish. But when I hear white wall I think of old T-Birds with the all white tires....

Have white wall tires become that rare. it's a 1inch white wall that circles the tire, i didn't give much thought until i heard the guy at the auto parts store looking for something to repair the whitewall on his vogue tires. i do remember
seeing something that looked like a pen but it was for the white lettering on tires.

rather than using a product that won't work i'll leave em, i do hope to run into the idiot that went to purchase the white out so i can laugh my a** off.

Stay tuned

Scrubbing Bubbles and a Magic Eraser work great without any worry of something getting on your wheels.

the tires are not dirty in some area's of the whitewall there faded out. it looks like a scuff mark would look after bumping the curb.

that magic eraser is another thread. i used one to clean my leather seats the other day and it fell apart after a couple minutes although it worked great there to much money to go through that many. i can't see them holding up on a dirty tire.

4 for 3.00 @ Big Lots under the Bounty name
I use them weekly on my wide Harley white walls....one will last 4 or 5 washings.

i used the magic eraser with megs leather cleaner and it fell apart and i did wet the sponge with water first. do think it could of fallen apart from the chemicals in the cleaner. the sponge worked great i like to continue to use them, but not if there gonna fall apart .

Did you use the Magic Eraser on leather? They're pretty abrasive sponges. I would think you could easily rub the finish right off your leather. It says right on the box (at least the Auto version) not to use on painted surfaces which leather essentially is.

i did use the sponge on a small area and gently i might add. the section i cleaned was like new again and i applied megs conditioner. dirt was the only thing on the sponge. you mentioned leather is a painted surface, i thought leather was dyed.

It is dyed, but it's closer to a painted surface as the dye does not go all the way through. If you scratch off the top layer of leather there will be no dye left. This is why when leather cracks you don't see dye in the crack it's just white.

Folks, they aren't dirty, they're degraded.
pei today i cleaned my car for the first in a couple of weeks and i used megs tire cleaner and this did nothing to whiten the white wall and then i used bleach white and usually this will do job, again a little better no luck so  then i remebered this thread and i brought out some simple green non diluted let it set up and scrubbed away wow the white on my tires were brighter than ever.what i thought to be faded was built up tire spray and break dust that built up over a period time. so as far as my tire's go they look brand new, thought i would let you know how nice they look. Thanks to all who helped out.
