Faded black plastic (nerf bars)

The plastic step on my chrome nerf bars has faded and I'm looking for a product I can use to restore the color but won't make it slippery when someone gets in. I thought about black wow but it looks like it would leave a slick finish. I've tried Ultima tire and trim but it still left a slick surface.

The step has a honeycomb design so it has nooks to get into

Poorbosy trim Restore will do the trick. Its going to require repeated applications over a few days to get it restored back to color.

Once you've applied it, use a cotton towel to buff it out that will leave in non-sticky and slippery ;)

I actually have some in my detail cabinet. It's been years since I used it. I'll dust it off and give it a try

Just a small update: I can't find my PB trim restore but j know I've got it here somewhere.

I have a new can of CG Black on Black I wanted to try. I sprayed it on the rear bumper and wiped with a towel. Looked great and didn't feel slick so I tried it on the drivers step and so far it doesn't seem slippery. Now to see how it holds up. Once I find my PB bottle I'm going to try it on the other step

Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus is a great product. A little goes a long way and it's got great durability.... :bigups

I've tried UTTG and I looked great but it left the step slippery. The first time I went to get in the truck I almost slipped off the step. It's pretty durable too because it took several dawn washes to get it off.

I found the PB trim restore and put it on the back step pad. We will see how it works

Poorboys trim restorer should do the trick.

I like Poorboy's Trim restorer and it is my go-to trim dressing. It looks good, easy to apply, does not run down the paint when it rains and lasts almost as long as the very expensive boutique exterior trim dressings. The PB's Trim Restorer is a great product and an excellent value.

Simple to use
Easy to apply
Looks Good
Great Value

Both the PB Trim restore and CG Black on Black look great and don't have too much shine. CGs product isn't slippery at all and is working out great for the step. The PBs product looks just as good but it's a little slick compared to the other. It's not as slick as other products and that's great for this application. If I hadn't tried black on black I would be more than happy with trim restore. I was suprised that black on black was not slick at all and with it being an aerosol it's easy to get into the cracks and details of the plastic. With that said I'm eager to see how both hold up. Ill be washing the truck this weekend so I'll see how it looks after a wash. I've got two other steps that I will later be trying some other products on

Merlin- I saw your review and I am curious to try that product on a vehicle. For this truck it's not needed as the trim is not really in bad shape. Had it been my old truck I'm sure i would have jumped on the chance since that trim was so ashy.
