f-450 on 24"s; what to charge?

hey guys.



i might have a detailing coming up on a 08 f-450 with polished 24" wheels





it's dark blue, has a big lift, 24" wheels, 2 tone with brown on the bottom



how should i go about making a price for this? i was thinking $300 for:



wash

clay

wax

basic interior (apc wipe down, treat leather, vacuum, etc.)







but he might not exactly that process, so it might vary, thats where my pricing question comes in. i am more of a weekend warrior, not a pro with a big name, so i can't just charge absurd amounts of money. :(

If you do it quick, you should get it done in about 5-6 hours for a big vehicle like that. At $60/hr, it's right in that range. I would lean more towards $360 than $300, though.
 
Figure out how much the ladder is going to cost so that you can reach the whole truck...then add some for profit! :geez
 
that process should take no more than hours...



wash - 25 min

wheels - 15-20 min

vacuum - 10 min

int. wipe down - 20 min

leather treatment - 20 min

clay - 45 min-60 min

wax - 15 min

final wipedown/check - 20 min



if you are polishing the wheels, then yeah longer...



I just did a honda accord

ONR

clay - took 1.5 hours (really contaminated)

spot compound scratch areas

megs 83/orange/pc

poliseal/white/pc

carpet cleaner

steam interior

wheels, tires, glass, trim

leather conditioning

plastic vinyl protectant



total time was 5.5 hours
 
Charge by the hour and I agree with qballJR13 also figure in the cost of the ladder or the scaffold you have to build.
 
I'd go for $300 on this deal.



AND PLEASE POST PICTURES, What you are describing is one of my favorite trucks ever!!!!
 
8Banger, I think you're right on the money for the work you're suggesting, if he wants it polished then go by the hour for sure and make sure it's worth your time.... Nothing worse then spending all day on a vehicle making it perfect and not being happy with the amount of money you make.



If you get $300 and it takes you 5 hours, that's $60 an hour and you'll be making about the same as some of the "big name pro's" as you put it.:2thumbs:

I have worked on a car for 12 hours for an agreed price of 150 bucks (friend deal - and the last one I ever will make in that condition...hahaha)
 
$300 does seem about right, although it seemed a bit high to me at first, I rethought it and an F450 is huge and add on top of that a lift with 24's.....seems about right for what I would want to charge ;)

Yup, one time I made the mistake of doing a "half off specail" and ended up doing a full correction on a black Corvette for $200, it took me over 10 hours and I was not happy to say the least.....



Needless to say I never do specials anymore or discount anyone for any reason. Just not worth it.
