Experiences w/ EX?

Anyone who has tried Poorboy's EX can you please share some of your thoughts on the product. I was thinking of trying EX on one of my black cars, but after doing some reading it seems like there are some really mixed reviews. Can anyone help me decide on wether or not I should give this product a try? I am really concerned about the reviews that claim that after they have removed EX it seems as if spots appear that resemble left on EX and they must be removed again. Anyone experience this? Thanks!

I used EX quite a few times and never found any problems, not what you referred to or any other. Um, sometimes we attribute problems to something when it is actually something else and we simply are not aware of it. Perhaps that is the case with such spotting, but I have never seen such with EX. I've used it on red, so if there was such spotting, it should have been easy enough to "spot" (sorry for the pun).

My experience is with the "old" version of EX (circa '02 or '03 IIRC).

I've used EX on several vehicles and different colors of paint. All paints were clear coat vs single stage. All paint surfaces were prepared before EX application with various paint cleaners and/or polishes.

OK, so much for the background. :D

I have experienced the phenomenon where a "haze" reappears.
1) This does not occur with each application
2) It does not appear all over the vehicle, just in isolated spots
3) It removes easily with a spritz of S&W or QD and a MF towel
4) Don't let this make you miss out on a really nice product

Should you try EX? I would say yes, but what do you want? Do you want a mirror finish on your black paint? I don't think that I would recommend EX for that, BUT if you want a deep dark black finish with the "right" amount of gloss, then by all means YES get you some EX!

I have had great success with EX and have never had any issues with the product. Of course, I use them in conjuction with PB's paint prep products... maybe that's why I've never had an issue? :dunno

Ex over VM is one of my favorite combos on my black truck. I also had the hazing problem but found that if I applied the EX by PC (and allowed it to sit for about 30 minutes) that the haze would not show up. Right now (IMO) I believe that the haze was due to NOT appling the EX thinly enough.

I just got the new EX and put a coat on my black truck a week or two ago. I had some problems getting it on thinly enough, but a little tweaking fixed that. I had no haze and very nice clean finish. The depth is pretty good by itself, I topped with some carnuba and it was great. The thing I really like is the water beading! There are no water trails left behind and I have not seen this type of protection in any other product I've tried.

I have used EX many times. I love the look it gives. ITs very sharp and reflective. It gives a nice depth to the paint. I usually apply 3 coats max. I top ex now because i was having troubles with its durablity. That doesnt bother me at all becuase i change combos alot. I applied it to my sisters car who lives in the twin cities metro and it was gone within a month. I wouild definatly buy more though. Im guessing environmental factors caused the short durabitly.

I've been extremely happy with EX. I'll be calling Steve for a gallon when I am out. I have used it on my Black Impala SS, my sister's black VW Jetta, and my mother's black Lexus LX470 without a single problem. All cars were prepped with the SSR's and I think I may have used some PwC a few times too. It seems to be pretty durable to me as well. I've done EX and EX-P on the jetta, and I have to say I really favor the look of EX on black. My .02: Try the EX...you'll be glad you did.

EX is one of the best choices there is for Black.
In my opinion anyway.
It is the only thing I use for sealant on my Black Legend.

I use Ex topped with Natty's on mom's black Acura RL. I also use it on the Legend and Vette. And I'll be using it on a white BMW tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the replies! As far as the durability aspect, how long can I expect EX to last? Also, I have read that there will be a new and improved EX coming out. Has anyone heard when that might be and how it has been improved upon. I am fairly certain that I will try EX out, but I think that I might wait on the new EX if there are improvements being made.

I think if you order EX now you get the new one automatically.
