Experience with Souveran paste & liquid?

I just purchased some Pinnacle Souveran paste and liquid and was wondering if anyone has layered these before? On the Pinnacle site, they mention something about it and it really caught my eye. I plan on using this combo on my blacked out 04' Expedition, and am hoping for an extremely wet look out of this. So has anyone done it yet?

I am also interested in seeing the replies to this question. I already have the paste version and am expecting the liquid version to arrive on my doorstep any day now.

Since Liquid Souveran has some possible solvent power, I wouldn't suggest using that on top of the paste. Go the other way. I have layered Souveran and Paste Glaze before and really liked it. It looked different than either one of them by themselves. Its a worthwhile experiment.

Yup. Definitely. I am sure it is going to look good. You may not be able to really tell if it looks any different until you have compared the waxes all by themselves. Put just the liquid souveran on for a week and then just the paste souveran on for a week. Then do them layered and see if you notice the difference. Or you could just do half the car in paste and the other half in liquid. I guess it just depends on how experimentitive you feel. I burned myself out being creative a long time ago. :lol I've done this kind of test several times. Its really the only way to know if you are seeing any difference when they are layered.

I think what I will do to get a true comparison is use AIO before each application and do what you are saying. I will AIO, then liquid Souveran for a week or so and see what it looks like. Then I will AIO again, and this time apply Souveran paste and see what that looks like for a couple weeks. Then finally, AIO and liquid+paste layered. I will post the three results after I finish.

Hey Jason, you could try doing your front door with liquid & the rear door with paste to get a quick comparison...then you could top them with the other product after a few days and see what differences you notice if any. This way you don't HAVE to do your whole SUV three times...of course most of us don't know when to stop, LOL! That's why we're here.

I love it. Does anyone but me see the reason that the Souveran, liquid or paste, is going to look great??

Charles:D

That's a great idea too, glad you thought of that. I could pretty much do the entire comparison in one day just doing two doors like that. One door paste, one door liquid for comparison and then AIO both doors and see what they look like layered, done deal. Cool!

I currently use pinnacle souveran paste and just totally love it. IMO, it is a step above p21s. Well, in my personal opinion, 2 or 3 coats looks better than 1 coat. Also, more than 1 coat seems to be more durable. It holds it's shine and luster longer. Im waiting to try out victoria wax which i heard is also a very nice wax on black. Very deep and wet.

Durability is the only negative thing I have heard about Souveran, unfortunately. Instead of layering it over and over I am just planning on reapplying every four to six weeks regardless of how it looks. I've heard four weeks is the extent of its longevity but the vehicle I'm using it on never really gets driven all that much, so I think it will last a bit longer. I bought it in Feb. with 1,000 miles on it and it currently has 3600 miles on it now. :car

Should I wait any length of time between coats? I'm referring to when I will be applying paste over liquid.

I have used the PS paste and I am hard pressed to find a $35 difference over and above the S100. It is marginally better, but I often think I am forcing myself to see a huge diference that isnt there to justify the extra expense.

Dont get me wrong, I love the look of PS on my car ( black ) and it is slightly better than the rest, but on a price par, S100 is hard to beat.

And Im with you Charles, AIO is the most versatile and widely used product in my arsenal. I love the stuff and I think I would be lost without it......

So you think the liquid should go before the paste?

Even though the LS is a liquid, which seem to have more solvents than paste waxes, the "lack" of cleaning power of the LS continues to surprise me. To me, that means that the solvents in LS are extremely mild. With that in mind, I've layered LS over Souveran, and haven't seen any negative affects. Could it be removing more Souveran, than Souveran over LS................. maybe, maybe not? :dunno I have no way of measuring it, so I don't worry about it. I do know that it sure looks good! :D

Actually, alternating coats of Trade Secret, Souveran, and LS is quite nice!

I've used a combo of Trade Secret followed up by Liquid Souveran on a red car before and it was definitely a different look than straight TS or LS. It ended up being somewhere in between the two alone. Makes sense.

I've also use LS followed up by Souveran paste on my red truck and I love the look. As well, I've used just the straight Souveran paste on my truck and I love that too.

I've used the Souveran paste on my wife's new car, very dark navy blue metallic and it was great. I liked that better than the Trade Secret on her car.

I have to say too that for me, my perception was that multiple coats of the Souveran paste on my truck seemed to make it darker and I liked that. That was my perception - I cannot prove it! :)

I use both Souvern products and once in a while I layer paste on top of liquid. If you have a black car and it is prepped correct you will see the difference. With all the sales going on you can get LS for about $20 and paste for about $50.I really cant explain it to you but the pop Souvern gives is well worth the money.

Well, I am looking forward to trying it out. I will post a new thread when I'm done with side by side comparisons of liquid vs. paste and then another pic with the two products layered.
