EX and S100 routine after 2 weeks looking real good

Check out these pictures.

About 2 weeks ago I did:

dawn wash

SMR w/ yellow pad

GEPC w/ white pad

3x Poorboy's EX

1X S100 wax

I've washed twice since with P21s shampoo and have touched up with One Grand Show off.

Deep, wet shine. On the side view, if you look closely, you can see my reflection, even though I'm standing like 20 feet away to take the picture. Ignore the white specks in the reflection shot. I think my lens is dirty because those specks definitely aren't on the car.

WOW. Talk about the perfect shine. That looks great.

One question, how much time between the coats of EX. I just picked some up along with a bunch of other goodies, but haven't used it yet.

Very nice job on the detail!

Audi paint is just amazing. Strongggg cleacoat and a shine and a half...

re: the curing time. I think the rule of thumb is 24 hours between coats and about 30-60 minutes before buffing off. However, I talked to their So. Cal rep and he said it really depends. i.e. if you're applying this stuff in the sun or you're in a warm climate, you probably don't need to wait the full 24 hours. Although he did say that before topping with a carnuba wax to wait the full 24 hours. I probably averaged about 20 hours in between coats.

I've read some mix remarks about EX and the ability to layer it. In all honest, it's only been a couple of weeks, but so far the shine and protection is there 100%. I do know that there is a significant difference in the appearance with the 2nd coat. So that gives me some clue that there is some sort of residual effect to layering.

I've got the same on my car too, except I haven't topped with S100, yet. I get excellent durability out of EX.

I wait 40 minutes to buff, and 24 hours in between coats.

Here's mine

Very wet looking, GoodnClean. How many coats (I think you mentioned 3 elsewhere) and how long have you pushed the durability? I guess I won't get a true sense because I top with S100 and frequently touch up with QW, but it's still nice to know that it's there as a sacrificial layer. Do you use the other products, SW and QW?

As for topping, I can't say it made a huge difference. In all honesty I was dying to try S100 because I was converting from Blitz. I'd say it kicked it up a tad bit, maybe not worth the effort for the casual eye, but for us Autopians... that's another story.

I've only pushed it about a month on the Lexus, because I tinker with it often, but its just now begun to fail on my Explorer and I EX'ed it in May. It also gets washed in an automatic tunnel soft cloth wash once a week or so.

3 coats on the Lexus, only 1 on the Explorer.

I use Poorboy's Spray and Wipe for touchups, great stuff!

One of these days I need to order some Poorboy's EX to play around with.
While you are at it, you might want to try his Spray & Wipe. It would be very interesting to hear your opinion and/or comparison to QEW.

From what I understand, you can only use Spray & Wipe on light to moderately dirty vehicles. I can use QEW on pretty much any level of dirt short of caked on mud. In addition, based on $32 a gallon and 150-200 car washes per gallon, it would be hard for any product to beat the cost effectiveness of QEW.

Still, if Spray & Wipe would save time on slightly dirty cars, it would probably be worth trying.

Don't want to hi-jack the thread, but your assesment echoes mine, except cost effective isn't in my vocabulary. Only do my three cars a couple of times a week.

The fact that it doesn't seem to damage the paint was and still is surprising to me. QEW and the S&W do something I didn't think possible. Clean a car with little or no water and no marring.

I was very suprised when I used QEW initially more than 10 years ago and I know a lot of people really like S&W also. Nice to know those types of products are available.
