Ever polish furniture with your pc?

I have seen posts where guys have used their auto polishing equipment on appliances, but what about furniture. My friend has a coffee table and the surface is painted like a piano, but it is all swirled up from wear and tear. I was thinking about taking my pc to it or even trying a final polish with a foam applicator by hand. I am not quite sure what kind of paint was used on it but it does look like some sort of clear is on top of it. What kind of paint do they use on pianos?

Since you said it’s “painted like a piano can we assume you mean black? (Pianos come in many colored and wood grain finishes.)

Colored furniture finishes tend to be single stage. They don’t need to stand up to the same environmental abuse as automotive finishes.

If you see the wood grain it might be clear over a stain or a tinted clear.

There are more different kinds of furniture finishes than car finishes, everything from insect goo (shellac) to 2K polyurethanes. If it’s a new, factory produced piece it’s probably a waterborne urethane.

Furniture finishes can be much less sturdy and thinner than auto finishes so start with very mild products first, testing in the proverbial “inconspicuous area and proceed carefully. They can sometimes be sort of soft and/or gummy too. Other than that, it should act much like to what you’re used to.
