The process has been around since the late 80's and don't even think it is like "gold plating" on dinner ware, etc.

It is an "extremely" thin coating and is very sensitive to almost any polishing process.

Please take some time and research the way, the process, that those wheels were "coated" with the gold finish.

Can't imagine using real gold on wheels, every time you polish them they would be less valuable and the towels would be worth more!

I would imagine steam is probably a preferred method for cleaning those... as little touching them as possible to keep the need to polish at a bare minimum.

When gold plating was popular I always asked myself 'Why', its very soft, easily scratches (and that's just when used for decals / badges) on wheels it just makes no sense to me, but then all things to all men.

I would use a slurryof talc powder / distlled water and a soft cloth to remove scratches (once its 'curbed' its probaly toast)

those are mugen mf10's and rare rare rare in that size/offset/lug pattern, they're easily a $4,000 set of rims before having them polished out and plated. idky toyo proxes, needs them yoko advans or falken azenis y0!
