Hey guys, thanks a lot for looking at this. I am going to be detailing a close family friend's cars next weekend. Me and my friend will be going to his house to detail 5 of his cars. We would like to know what are the absolute essentails for a perfect finish and what specific products you suggest. We are going to purchase the products and test them on our own cars first then do his. We have been detailing for a few month's now and would like to take it to the next step. We will be detailing higher end cars...

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, welcome.

Product selection is sorta like asking what color car does everyone like. You'll get 10 responses and 10 different answers. I started out looking at the click and brag section and finding the guys with the greatest results and see what products they used. Then i bought them and continued to buy others. I am a huge fan of the Menzerna line. Excellent products. Go to their website and see what they offer for what type of paint correction and finishing you may need. Good luck!

I have had really good luck with the click and brag section seeing what products took out what paint problems...

with that said, i really like the menzerna line of products....a bit pricy, but worth every penny when you stand back and marvel in your accomplishments....powergloss, intensive polish, and final polish II in particular, cant seem to pull the trigger on FMJ or acrylic jacket yet!

for basics and light colors, i used meguiars line up...it takes a little longer for their products to break down, but you get good results with them....i am using 66, 34, 83, 80,, nxt, their pads and their wheel brightener, trim detailer, leather cleaner and conditioner and safe degreaser in particular

pads - megs pads, coming soon LC pads to try out

as far as wheel polishes, I am using blue magic stuff sold over the counter at pepboys, stoners window cleaner

carnuba wax - pinnacle paste, going to try soem nattys blue or p21s to personally test the differences once this stuff runs out!

towels....i have had my fill with my waffle weave towels....complete waste if you ask me....I have better results with a leaf blower and QD method on a dry surface....but thats just me, most swear by WW towels....i just cant seems to get them to not scratch like crazy....

but meguiars yellow polishing towels are pretty good, just dont use the edges....I am thinking about cutting them off one and running it through the wash to see the effects before I cut off all the edges!

hope that helps....if not, oh well :bat :bat :bat hahaha

Thanks guys. How hard is it to use a PC? I wanna pick one up to do these cars, of course I will test it on other cars first, but how hard....
